It’s no secret that Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort alike tend to neglect attractions as they begin to show their age or become outdated, but one Disney ride needs some TLC more than others…

Unfortunately, this is even the case for classic attractions. While rides such as Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, the Haunted Mansion, and Pirates of the Caribbean are always receiving new updates to keep these classic attractions alive and well, other classics such as Peter Pan’s Flight and “it’s a small world” tend to be left by the wayside.
After all, the animatronics on Peter Pan’s Flight could definitely use some refurbishment.

However, “it’s a small world” is even worse than Peter Pan’s Flight, and is even harder to tackle due to the sheer amount of puppets used to bring the Disney ride to life.
Nearly 300 animatronics make up the children of the world as they sing their catchy song, and a number of them are in desperate need of refurbishment at any given time.

One Guest recently visited Disneyland Resort’s version of the classic attraction and caught one of the most iconic animatronics on video. Unfortunately, it was one of the animatronics needing some TLC.
The dolls representing Hawaii are notorious for malfunctioning, and it’s not uncommon for one of them to be obviously missing from the lineup due to technical difficulties. However, in this video, the doll is present but clearly ‘over it.’
@katiek6703 these hula girls never get a break. Also phone almost failing into the water = shaky camera..sorry #disneyland #Anaheim #itsSmallworld #attraction #huladancers #iwishicouldshakelikethat

While it’s difficult to maintain an attraction that is decades old and that also houses hundreds of animatronics, it’s a shame to see one of the most quintessential Disney rides in such a state.
Hopefully both versions get the time, love, and care they both need so that it can truly be “a world of laughter” and not a “world of tears.”
