Disney World Theme Park Now Closed, Tickets Sales Cease

One of Walt Disney World Resort‘s two water parks has gone dark for the season, as Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park enters its scheduled refurbishment period and stops selling tickets for the foreseeable future.

Walt Disney World Resort’s official website confirms that Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park is now closed for seasonal refurbishment, with Tuesday, September 8, serving as the final operating day. No reopening date has been announced, and Disney is steering guests toward Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park as an alternative in the meantime.

Looking at Walt Disney World Resort’s typical refurbishment pattern from recent years, Typhoon Lagoon would likely return sometime in spring 2027, coinciding with Blizzard Beach’s own scheduled closure.

The Summer That Just Wrapped

Both Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park and Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park had been running simultaneously this year under the Cool KIDS’ SUMMER promotion, which ran from May 26 through September 8. As part of that promotion, Disney Resort hotel guests received free same-day admission to whichever water park they chose on their check-in date.

That perk looked different just a year earlier. In 2025, Disney offered free arrival-day water park admission to Disney Resort hotel guests year-round, adjusting only for which park was open at any given time. This year, Walt Disney World Resort scaled that policy back, restricting the free water park admission on check-in day perk exclusively to the Cool KIDS’ SUMMER promotional period.

With that window now closed, guests checking into a Disney Resort hotel starting September 9 will no longer receive complimentary same-day access to Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park. Whether Walt Disney World Resort will bring the free water park admission perk back in 2027 remains unclear.
