SeaWorld Orlando Is Doing Something This Summer That Disney and Universal Can’t Do

SeaWorld Orlando has had a complicated decade. The controversies, the declining attendance, the slow rebuild of its reputation, and its entertainment lineup. If you have not paid close attention to what the park has been doing over the last few years, it would be easy to assume it is still coasting on whatever goodwill it has left and hoping for the best.

That assumption is wrong this summer.

Starting June 12, SeaWorld Orlando launches Electric Ocean 2026, and the lineup it has put together is genuinely the most ambitious version of its summer after-dark event in years. New nighttime animal shows, a brand new drone spectacular, returning fan favorites, and a new attraction still coming later in the season. For a park that a lot of Orlando visitors have quietly crossed off their list, this summer is a legitimate reason to put it back on.

The Nighttime Animal Shows Are the Real Story

SeaWorld spent years gradually removing the theatrical energy from its animal presentations until they felt more like guided nature walks than the shows that made the park famous. Longtime fans noticed. Attendance reflected it.

This summer three nighttime animal presentations are returning at the same time for the first time in years. Shamu Celebration: Light Up The Night, Sea Lions Tonite, and Dolphins: Touch the Sky are all back, each incorporating lighting, music, and genuine show energy while keeping the animals at the center of the experience. For guests who remember what SeaWorld used to feel like after dark, this is the closest the park has come to that in a long time.

What Is New at SeaWorld

A brand-new drone spectacular is debuting this summer, featuring hundreds of synchronized drones that form glowing sea creatures and ocean scenes overhead. The drone sequence leads directly into Ignite, the park’s returning fireworks finale around the central lagoon with fountains, lighting, and music. The combination gives the end of the evening real momentum.

Expedition Odyssey: Fire and Ice is also confirmed to open sometime this summer. The attraction is themed around a scientific exploration of extreme environments shaped by fire and ice. A specific opening date has not been announced.

What Is Coming Back

Club SeaGlow returns to Bayside Stadium with DJs, glowing performers, and dance party energy that tends to work especially well for families with kids who still have gas in the tank after dinner. The glowing aquatic puppets are back and remain one of the more genuinely fun elements of the evening for younger guests.

Hydro Surge, the indoor cirque-style production at Nautilus Theater, is also returning. Acrobatics, dancers, percussion, and ocean-inspired visuals inside an air-conditioned theater make it one of the smarter options during peak summer heat. For families looking for a midday break that actually delivers, this one is worth scheduling.

How to Plan the Evening at SeaWorld

For families with younger kids, the best strategy is building the evening around the nighttime animal presentations and Club SeaGlow rather than pushing all the way to the fireworks finale. The drone show and Ignite are visually impressive but land later in the evening, and a full summer park day takes its toll on small children before the finale rolls around.

SeaWorld’s nighttime entertainment works best when treated as a layered experience with multiple stopping points rather than a single must-see ending. Guests who build their evening around the animal shows and the dance party will leave satisfied without necessarily needing to stay for every last element.

Electric Ocean runs select nights from June 12 through September 7. The full schedule has not been announced but most nighttime programming is expected on Friday and Saturday evenings.

For anyone who has written SeaWorld off in recent years, this summer is worth a second look.
