Hurricane Milton is just two days away from making landfall in Florida, and SeaWorld Orlando has issued an operational update ahead of the storm.
SeaWorld’s Hurricane Response Policy
SeaWorld Orlando plans to maintain its regular hours even as the hurricane approaches, emphasizing that guests can enjoy various attractions as long as weather permits. Guests are encouraged to monitor updates through SeaWorld’s dedicated weather information page, which provides pertinent details regarding any changes in operational status.
SeaWorld has reiterated its commitment to guest safety while noting that certain attractions may close temporarily if weather conditions worsen. Despite the looming threat of Hurricane Milton, the park intends to operate normally unless absolutely necessary to shut down for safety reasons.
Guests’ Options During Disruptions
For those already at SeaWorld Orlando during Hurricane Milton’s approach, the park has a long-standing return visit policy to mitigate guest inconvenience. Should inclement weather necessitate early park closures or result in ride closures lasting over 60 minutes, guests will be offered the opportunity to return at a later date.
“SeaWorld Orlando usually remains open even when the weather isn’t cooperating, and we have lots of awesome ways for you and your family to have fun while it passes,” the theme park writes. “Still, you never know when thunder and lightning, hail, or even a hurricane might unexpectedly land and ruin your good time. But don’t worry. That’s when our Weather-or-Not Assurance steps in to provide you with a return visit on us!”
However, it is important to note that the park has not committed to refunding visitors affected by the storm. This decision means that individuals who had planned their trips around a busy season may face losses if the park’s operations alter significantly due to Hurricane Milton.
Impact of Hurricane Milton
The rapid intensification of Hurricane Milton after the recent Hurricane Helene has raised concerns throughout Florida. National Hurricane Center meteorologists have observed that the storm has escalated quickly from a tropical storm to a Category 5 hurricane within a short span.
On Saturday, Governor Ron DeSantis declared a state of emergency across 51 Florida counties, including Orange County, home to SeaWorld Orlando, Universal Orlando Resort, and Walt Disney World Resort.
Statewide Emergency Measures
In response to Hurricane Milton, broader emergency measures have been implemented throughout Florida. Road tolls have been suspended throughout West and Central Florida, easing travel for those in mandatory evacuation zones and facilitating access to necessary resources.
