‘Rebirth 2’ Reportedly in Talks, Three Other ‘Jurassic Park’ Sequels Nearing Release

Jurassic World Rebirth has proven that audiences still have a massive appetite for dinosaurs on the big screen. The film stomped into theaters this summer and earned an impressive $862 million worldwide, even as reviews leaned mixed to negative. With numbers like that, Universal is clearly in no hurry to let the prehistoric juggernaut rest.

Rumors are already circling about a direct sequel. Daniel Richtman (via SFFGazette.com) recently reported that Scarlett Johansson is rumored to return to headline another installment, though Universal has yet to confirm.

Johansson herself played coy earlier this year, saying she and director Gareth Edwards approached Jurassic World Rebirth as a contained story rather than a setup for a new trilogy. But the Jurassic franchise has never been one to stay extinct for long.

Johansson stars alongside Jonathan Bailey and Mahershala Ali in the seventh entry, which introduced an entirely new cast after Jurassic World Dominion (2022).

While she referred to Rebirth “singular” and “standalone,” with Universal banking nearly a billion dollars from its release, it seems inevitable that more sequels will be hatched up.

Meanwhile, the wider Jurassic universe continues to expand beyond theaters.

Netflix’s animated series Jurassic World: Chaos Theory is gearing up for Season 4 on November 20, picking up after the events of Season 3 and overlapping with Dominion.

Meanwhile, in gaming, fans can look forward to “Jurassic World Evolution 3” arriving October 21, and the first-person action-adventure “Jurassic Park: Survival”, which puts players in the shoes of Dr. Maya Joshi during the aftermath of the original 1993 film.

Whether Scarlett Johansson returns or not, Universal’s dino empire shows no signs of extinction. With animation, games, and an inevitable Rebirth follow-up all in play, the next chapter of Jurassic World feels like only a matter of time.

Chaos Theory seasons 1–4 are now streaming on Netflix.

Jurassic World Rebirth is now available to watch at home. The film stars Scarlett Johansson (Avengers: Endgame), Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton), Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (The Lincoln Lawyer), Rupert Friend (Obi-Wan Kenobi), Mahershala Ali (The Green Book), Luna Blaise (Manifest), David Iacono (Dead Boy Detectives), Audrina Miranda (Lopez vs Lopez), Philippine Velge (Station Eleven), Bechir Sylvain (BMF), and Ed Skrein (Deadpool).
