Starbucks Pink Drink in mason jars

What started as a secret menu item and then exploded into fame, the Pink Drink is a combination of a strawberry acai base with coconut milk instead of water. She was once ‘Strawberry Acai Refresher,’ now she is reborn as Pink Drink. So, maybe you’ve tried it, maybe you’ve wanted to, either way, this drink has been on all of our minds at some point. It has a delicious sweetness with a wonderful smooch of strawberry. It’s refreshing, it’s pretty, it’s pink. Now you can make it whenever you want! All you need are a few ingredients and a blender, and you’ve got yourself a homemade Pink Drink.

Ingredients in a Starbucks Pink Drink

  • Fresh Strawberries – Either 6 large fresh strawberries or 8 small strawberries.
  • Sugar
  • Ocean Spray White Cran-Strawberry Juice
  • Coconut Milk – in the refrigerated section, not the stuff in the can
  • Freeze Dried Strawberries
  • Ice

Method

This drink is pretty easy to make. Combine cranberry-strawberry juice, a handful of fresh strawberries, and 3 tablespoons of sugar in your blender and mix for 60 seconds. Once mixed, fill a cup with ice cubes and pour your strawberry concoction over it. After this, you can add the fresh and creamy coconut milk, you’ll find this in the refrigerated section of the grocery store, it isn’t the coconut cream that you typically find in a can. Stir well and then add freeze-dried sliced strawberries to garnish. Look at you, you’re a little barista!

Variations

Another juice I’ve heard is similar to the Starbucks strawberry acai base is white grape juice. It’s worth a try!

If you want to make your beverage lower in sugar, here are some options:

  • Welch’s Light White Grape Juice
  • Ocean Spray Zero Sugar Mixed Berry
  • Use a monkfruit sweetener instead of sugar

Recipe Tip

Two mason jars filled with ice and pink-colored liquid, placed on a white marble surface. The jars have handles, and the drink appears to be a cold, creamy beverage.

  • Use other flavors of cranberry juice for more variety.
  • This recipe makes two 16-ounce drinks.
  • Make sure you use the refrigerated coconut milk, not the canned coconut milk.
  • Top your drink with whipped cream for even more creamy goodness!

Frequently Asked Questions

How much caffeine is in the Pink Drink at Starbucks?

A 16 oz. Pink Drink from Starbucks has between 35-45 mg of caffeine. This is considered a lightly caffeinated beverage. The Starbucks version has caffeine because their strawberry acai refresher base has green tea extract.

Does Starbucks pink drink hydrate you?

Because of its coconut milk content, it can be hydrating. Coconut milk contains 50% water, as well as healthy fats. A note: this drink also contains Vitamin C!

Why does my Pink Drink look curdled?

Your coconut milk is separating from the other ingredients because it wasn’t mixed well enough. Give it a good stir and it should go back to normal, it won’t taste any different.
This can also happen if you place your drink in the fridge and the ingredients settle. It just needs a stir.
