PeopleMover Fire Video Has Disney Fans Worried About Beloved Magic Kingdom Ride

For many Walt Disney World guests, the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover is the definition of a relaxing Disney attraction.

The elevated ride glides above Tomorrowland, offering views of Space Mountain, TRON Lightcycle / Run, and other iconic parts of Magic Kingdom. It rarely makes headlines, which is exactly why a recent viral video caught so many Disney fans by surprise.

A TikTok posted by user roycesclips appears to show a small fire or spark event near the PeopleMover. The footage quickly spread across social media, generating thousands of reactions from guests who couldn’t believe one of Magic Kingdom’s most beloved attractions was suddenly associated with flames.

The video shows guests looking toward the attraction while smoke and visible flames appear in the distance. While the incident appeared relatively minor, the PeopleMover’s popularity among longtime Disney fans helped turn the clip into a major talking point online.

The story gained even more momentum after Disney fan Nick Chappell shared the video on X, posting, “That can’t be good…” along with a link to the footage. From there, reactions poured in.

Many comments mixed concern with humor. Some guests joked that the attraction had finally become a “hot ride,” while others referenced Uncle Orville, the classic character featured during the ride experience. Several fans admitted they were worried the attraction could face a lengthy closure if repairs became necessary.

The strong reaction highlights just how much affection exists for the PeopleMover. Unlike major thrill rides that rely on speed and excitement, the PeopleMover has earned its reputation through simplicity. Guests love the breeze, the views, and the nostalgic feeling of riding an attraction that has remained largely unchanged for decades.

The incident also arrives during a year that has already seen another attraction-related fire discussion at Magic Kingdom.

Earlier this year, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad became the subject of conversation after reports of a fire surfaced shortly after activity resumed around the attraction following its extended refurbishment project. While the details surrounding the two incidents are different, Disney fans have taken notice of multiple fire-related stories involving popular Magic Kingdom attractions in the same year.

At this point, Disney has not publicly commented on the PeopleMover video, and there has been no indication of significant damage to the attraction.

Still, the viral footage serves as a reminder of how quickly news can spread within the Disney community. A small incident that might have gone largely unnoticed years ago can now reach thousands of fans within hours.

For many Disney enthusiasts, however, the biggest takeaway is simple. They just want to see the PeopleMover continue operating for years to come. The attraction remains one of Tomorrowland’s defining experiences, and the reaction to the video proved just how protective fans are of this classic Magic Kingdom favorite.
