Disney Fantasy Departs Palma de Mallorca for the First Time—Next Stop: Barcelona

The Disney Fantasy has officially set sail from Palma de Mallorca after visiting the Balearic capital earlier today. The ship, currently wrapping up a 12-night Mediterranean itinerary, is now en route to its final destination: Barcelona, Spain.

This historic stop marks the first time the Disney Fantasy, one of the fleet’s largest and most luxurious ships, has docked in Mallorca—a rare and surprising addition to its 2025 European sailing season.

A One-Time Magical Detour

Palma de Mallorca wasn’t originally on the Disney Fantasy’s itinerary. In fact, the ship was scheduled to visit Naples. However, due to new maritime regulations under the Mediterranean’s designation as a Particularly Sensitive Sea Area (PSSA), Disney Cruise Line adjusted its course. To reduce environmental impact and marine speed limits in the region, Disney removed Naples and added Palma de Mallorca as a replacement port.

The ship arrived in Palma on July 11, offering guests a fresh and unexpected Mediterranean destination, just one day before the cruise concludes in Barcelona on July 12.

Where Is Palma de Mallorca, and Why Is It Special?

Palma de Mallorca is the vibrant capital of the Spanish Balearic Islands, located in the western Mediterranean. Known for its rich history, scenic coastline, and Gothic architecture, Palma is a picturesque port city full of cultural charm. Guests aboard the Fantasy could explore landmarks like La Seu Cathedral, stroll through the old town, and even bike along the Paseo Marítimo, all while soaking in the island’s sunny seaside atmosphere.

Thinking of Booking a Disney Cruise to Palma? Hold That Thought.

If this port stop sparked your interest, you’re not alone. Palma de Mallorca is listed as a destination on the Disney Cruise Line website, but there’s a catch: currently, no sailings are available that include Palma as a scheduled port of call. This was a unique one-off stop prompted by itinerary changes, and there’s no official word yet on whether Disney plans to return to the island in future sailings.

Disney Fantasy Heads Back to the U.S. This Fall

After spending the summer in Europe, the Disney Fantasy will make her way back across the Atlantic in November 2025. Once home, she’ll resume her typical schedule from Port Canaveral, Florida, offering voyages to the Caribbean and the Bahamas—including stops at Disney Lookout Cay and Castaway Cay.

This summer marks the Fantasy’s first-ever European deployment, with multiple itineraries sailing from Rome, Barcelona, and soon, Southampton, England.

A Historic Visit, Brief But Bright

While today’s departure marks the end of Disney Fantasy’s first visit to Palma de Mallorca, it leaves behind a bit of magic in its wake. For Mallorcans, cruise enthusiasts, and Disney fans alike, this one-time stop was a moment to remember. Whether or not Disney Cruise Line returns to Palma in the future, today’s milestone proves that even after a decade at sea, the Fantasy can still surprise us all.
