Official ‘Stranger Things’ Spinoff Set for 2026 Shares New Teaser
Next year, after Stranger Things Season 5 concludes with its epic finale, which is set to stream this December 31, Netflix will be heading back to Hawkins and the Upside Down — this time in animated form, with a brand-new 3D animated series titled Tales From ’85.
Following the official teaser released a few weeks ago, which features commentary from Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer and Tales From ’85 showrunner and executive producer Eric Robles, Entertainment Weekly has now unveiled three new screenshots from the upcoming 3D animated spinoff series set between seasons 2 and 3.

Set during the winter of ’85, Tales From ’85 follows several characters from the main Netflix series as they face new threats from the Upside Down. The project marks the first animated expansion of the Stranger Things franchise and is positioned squarely within established canon, rather than operating as a standalone or alternate timeline.
The newly released images offer a clearer look at the series’ aesthetic and scope. One features Eleven using her powers with Mike visible in the background, another shows Max and Lucas investigating an unseen threat in a darkened setting, while the third image shows the full ensemble of the Stranger Things kids exploring a snow-covered woodland.

Tales From ’85 introduces a new voice cast, so the likes of Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour won’t be reprising their roles.
Instead, the series stars Brett Gipson as Jim Hopper, Luca Diaz as Mike Wheeler, Brooklyn Davey Norstedt as Eleven, Braxton Quinney as Dustin Henderson, Elisha Williams as Lucas Sinclair, Ben Plessala as Will Byers, and Jolie Hoang-Rappaport as Max Mayfield.
Odessa A’zion, Janeane Garofalo, and Lou Diamond Phillips are also part of the cast, voicing undisclosed roles.

The spinoff arrives as Netflix continues to build toward the conclusion of the original series. Stranger Things seasons 1 through 4, along with Season 5 Volume 1 — consisting of four episodes — are now streaming on Netflix.
The next three episodes are set to debut on December 25, with the series finale scheduled for December 31, though availability will vary depending on region and time zone.
With Tales From ’85, Netflix is keen to keep the door to Hawkins open a little longer — and it looks like the Upside Down isn’t done with small town Indiana just yet, either.

Stranger Things Season 5 stars Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin Henderson), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas Sinclair), Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler), Noah Schnapp (Will Byers), Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Winona Ryder (Joyce Byers), David Harbour (Jim Hopper), Joe Keery (Steve Harrington), Natalia Dyer (Nancy Wheeler), Maya Hawke (Robin Buckley), Charlie Heaton (Jonathan Byers), Brett Gelman (Murray Bauman), Nell Fisher (Holly Wheeler), Priah Ferguson (Erica Sinclair), Sadie Sink (Max Mayfield), Jamie Campbell Bower (Vecna/Henry Creel), Cara Buono (Karen Wheeler), and Linda Hamilton (Dr. Kay).
