Official ‘Minecraft’ Hotel Confirmed for 2027, Igniting Wild Universal Orlando Rumors
Orlando may be one of the biggest theme park destinations in the world, but Minecraft fans will have to travel somewhere else for one major reason.
In 2027, the world’s first Minecraft hotel will welcome guests, turning the enormously popular video game into an overnight experience.
And that’s not all that’s coming.
The hotel will arrive alongside a larger Minecraft expansion filled with attractions and interactive experiences, showing just how far the game can go as a physical destination.
Universal Orlando Resort isn’t involved and hasn’t announced anything similar.
But it’s easy to imagine what could happen if Minecraft ever found a home in Orlando.
The First Minecraft Hotel Is Coming in 2027
The Minecraft World Hotel is coming to Chessington World of Adventures in the United Kingdom in 2027.
Merlin Entertainments and Mojang Studios are behind the project, which will take Minecraft theming far beyond traditional hotel rooms.
The hotel will feature 69 themed rooms surrounded by elements inspired by the game.
Guests will use Nether Portal-inspired lifts and walk through mine tunnel corridors on their way to their rooms.
The theming will continue with an underwater restaurant inspired by Minecraft’s aquatic environments and a Woodland Mansion-themed bar.
Chessington hasn’t announced an exact opening date, but the Minecraft World Hotel remains scheduled for 2027.
And guests won’t have to leave Minecraft behind when they walk outside.

Minecraft Is Getting an Entire Land
Minecraft World will also open at Chessington World of Adventures in 2027.
The new land will feature rides and interactive experiences built around the game.
Its biggest attraction will break new ground for the franchise.
Escape the Nether will become the world’s first Minecraft roller coaster.
Steve and Alex will join riders on an adventure through the Nether before guests escape through a portal and return to the Overworld.
Additional Minecraft attractions and experiences will expand the land beyond its centerpiece coaster.
With Mojang Studios directly involved alongside Merlin Entertainments, Minecraft World will turn familiar game environments into places fans can physically explore.
That’s where the Orlando comparisons become interesting.

Universal Already Has SUPER NINTENDO WORLD
Universal Orlando Resort has not announced plans for Minecraft.
Still, Universal has already proven video games can work exceptionally well inside a theme park.
SUPER NINTENDO WORLD at Epic Universe has turned familiar gaming environments into rides, restaurants, merchandise locations, colorful spaces, and interactive experiences.
Minecraft could provide many of those same opportunities while offering something different.
One hypothetical location could be Islands of Adventure.
The Lost Continent has gradually lost attractions and experiences, making it an interesting area to watch as Universal’s future plans develop.
A Minecraft replacement remains purely hypothetical. The current projects involve Merlin Entertainments and Mojang Studios, and Universal hasn’t indicated plans to bring Minecraft to Orlando.
Still, there’s plenty of material to work with.

Minecraft Could Be Built for Interaction
A Minecraft land wouldn’t necessarily need the biggest roller coaster possible.
The game’s greatest strength is its ability to let players interact with the world around them.
A theme park version could include villages, caves, climbing areas, mobs, hidden spaces, and interactive features. Guests could collect virtual resources, trigger effects, or complete challenges.
The rides offer even more possibilities.
A family coaster could recreate Minecraft’s mine carts and underground settings. Another attraction could take cues from Yoshi’s Adventure or the more energetic Mine-Cart Madness in SUPER NINTENDO WORLD.
A dark ride could take guests into the Nether, while Creepers, Skeletons, and other mobs could appear throughout different experiences.
Interactive technology could even allow visitors to complete crafting challenges or create digital builds that appear elsewhere in the land.
For a game built around creativity and exploration, the possibilities are extensive.

Orlando Fans Will Have to Keep Waiting
None of those ideas is heading to Universal Orlando Resort right now.
Instead, Chessington World of Adventures will get the first opportunity to show what a permanent Minecraft theme park destination and hotel can become.
Minecraft World and the Minecraft World Hotel are both scheduled for 2027.
If the projects connect with fans, they could demonstrate how well Minecraft works outside the digital world.
And for Universal Orlando fans already exploring SUPER NINTENDO WORLD, watching another massive gaming franchise enter the theme park business could raise one big question.
Could Minecraft eventually find its way to Orlando?
