A technology conference is about to claim Disney’s Hollywood Studios for the night, and regular Walt Disney World guests will have to leave hours earlier than normal as a result.

On Tuesday, October 20, the park will close to day guests at 5 p.m., cutting four hours from its standard 9 p.m. close. The reason is a private event tied to the Gartner IT Symposium/Xpo 2026, which takes place at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin from October 19 to October 22. Hollywood Studios is booked to host conference attendees from 7 p.m. until 11 p.m.
Gartner makes the exclusivity clear. “Join us for our Special Event at Disney’s Hollywood Studios Theme Park! From 8:00 to 11:00 p.m., we’ve reserved the entire park for you to enjoy entertainment, thrilling rides, and delicious food,” the conference website reads. “This is a celebration you won’t want to miss, reserved just for you!”
For paying park guests, the trade-off is a compressed day. The morning schedule holds steady, with Early Theme Park Entry at 8:30 a.m. and general opening at 9 a.m., but the evening hours are gone. That leaves less room to ride heavy hitters such as Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, where wait times can climb quickly. Guests who want to keep going after leaving can head to another park, though they should check its hours first.

The timing adds to the strain. October already ranks among the busiest months at Disney World, with Halloween celebrations and special events reshaping the operating calendar across the resort.
Elsewhere on the property, there are more closures. Magic Kingdom is repeatedly closing early this month for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Guests who lack a separate party ticket must depart by 6 p.m. on multiple nights, including October 22, 23, and 25.
EPCOT has its own change. The park will open late, at 10 a.m., on October 23 and 25 to accommodate the Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend. On those overlapping dates, the classic plan of starting at EPCOT and ending the night at Magic Kingdom becomes much harder to pull off.

In total, three of the resort’s four theme parks are operating on altered schedules at some point this October due to external factors or hard-ticketed events. Anyone with a trip booked should check the official Disney World calendar before arriving to avoid any last-minute disruption.
