Next Batman Reboot Confirms Several Characters in Official Trailer

Over the decades, Batman has appeared in numerous films, TV shows, and video games, each exploring a different side of the iconic Gotham City hero. Now, Warner Bros. and DC are uniting those interpretations in a single, Multiverse-inspired adventure.

“LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight” is an upcoming third-person, open-world title developed by TT Games and published by Warner Bros. Games. The game can be described as a “Batman Multiverse” adventure as it brings together iterations of characters from across the Caped Crusader’s film history. Players will explore Gotham while encountering heroes and villains from different eras of Batman in cinema.

Confirmed characters include Jim Gordon, Barbara Gordon/Batgirl, Nightwing, Robin, Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Talia al Ghul, The Joker, Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin, Poison Ivy, and Ra’s al Ghul.

Some of these characters, however, are based on big-screen portrayals, including Michelle Pfeiffer’s Catwoman from Batman Returns (1992), Heath Ledger’s Joker from The Dark Knight (2008), Tom Hardy’s Bane from The Dark Knight Rises (2012), and Jeffrey Wright’s Jim Gordon from The Batman (2022).

Now, a new trailer titled “Heroes & Villains,” which was recently revealed during this year’s Game Awards, expands the roster even further. It confirms Danny DeVito’s Penguin (Batman Returns), Tommy Lee Jones’ Harvey Dent/Two-Face (Batman Forever, 1995), and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Mr. Freeze (Batman & Robin, 1997), highlighting the game’s Multiverse approach.

Like all the previous showcases, which include the initial trailer and a behind-the-scenes featurette that includes an appearance from DC Studios’ co-CEO and Superman (2025) director James Gunn, this new trailer promises that players will experience storylines and set pieces that playfully intersect these different cinematic worlds while maintaining the LEGO franchise’s signature humor and accessibility.

The game also draws inspiration from other Batman media, including animated shows and comic books.

Shai Matheson (Manhunt) will voice Bruce Wayne/Batman, while Matt Berry (The IT Crowd) takes on Bane. No other cast members have been confirmed.

“Legacy of the Dark Knight” will be released on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S on May 29, 2026.
