New Information Comes To Light on Upcoming E-Ticket Animal Kingdom Attraction
Fans of Disney’s Encanto will soon have a new way to experience the magic of the Madrigal family. A brand-new attraction is coming to Walt Disney World Resort in 2027, and it’s already under construction at Animal Kingdom.
The ride will bring guests into the vibrant world of Casa Madrigal, drawing inspiration from Antonio Madrigal’s room. Part of the new Tropical Americas land—which will also feature an Indiana Jones-themed experience—the Encanto attraction will replace DinoLand U.S.A. Disney has noted that trackless technology might be used, and the design will reflect rich Latin American influences.
Construction began in early 2025, and by mid-2025, cranes, staging, and land clearing were well underway. The new area is expected to open in 2027, and Imagineers are hard at work to meet that timeline.
Stephanie Beatriz, the voice of Mirabel, has confirmed she will reprise her role for the attraction.
“I will say I’m very excited to do some of the voice recordings for the ride that will be going into Walt Disney World,” she told The Direct while promoting Twisted Metal Season 2. “I believe they announced that it’s going to be ready in 2027. I cannot believe it’s happening.”
Her involvement continues a tradition where original cast members return for Disney parks experiences, such as Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
“I remember being at Disneyland Paris and riding the Ratatouille ride and going like, I bet Patton Oswalt was so keyed up when he got to do the voice for this,” she said. “I can’t even imagine what that’s like… And now here we are. I’m gonna get to do that.”
Originally released in November 2021, Encanto told the story of Mirabel, the only member of the Madrigal family without a magical gift. When the family’s powers begin to fade, she steps up to uncover the mystery and protect their miracle. Directed by Byron Howard, Jared Bush, and Charise Castro Smith, and featuring music by Lin-Manuel Miranda, the film explored themes of family, expectations, and self-discovery.
While its opening weekend box office reached $40.6 million over five days, Encanto gained a larger audience after its Disney+ debut on December 24. In its first full week on the platform, it garnered over 2.2 billion streaming minutes and appeared on Nielsen’s top 10 list for several weeks. “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” became a viral hit, with families returning for multiple viewings and the soundtrack achieving massive success.
Though the film’s theatrical revenue—$96.1 million domestically and $256.5 million globally—fell short of pre-pandemic standards, its performance on streaming marked it as one of Disney’s most successful digital releases.
Former CEO Bob Chapek previously indicated that Encanto was seen internally as a franchise. While a sequel has not yet been confirmed, the studio’s development of Zootopia 2 and Toy Story 5 suggests the Madrigals’ return could be a matter of time.
For now, fans can look forward to experiencing the magic firsthand at Walt Disney World Resort—where the miracle of Encanto continues to grow.
