First Look at New Hermione Granger Actor in Character
HBO’s Harry Potter series is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious television projects in recent memory. The studio has confirmed an impressive lineup: John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, and Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape headline the ensemble, with a full slate of supporting actors including Katherine Parkinson, Paul Whitehouse, and Janet McTeer.
The series’ central trio will be led by Dominic McLaughlin (Harry Potter), Alastair Stout (Ron Weasley), and Arabella Stanton (Hermione Granger).
Stanton’s casting is unusual in that she will also voice Hermione for the first three books of Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audio Editions. Only Tom Felton has similarly reprised a role across more than one format in the franchise, returning as Draco Malfoy in the upcoming Broadway version of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
Now, Audible has shared a clip of Stanton bringing Hermione to life, reciting the iconic line: “It’s Levi-o-sa, not Levio-SA!”
Stanton also recounts the moment she learned about her audiobook role: “It was very funny ‘cuz I got back from school and my parents said, ‘Right, we need to have a talk to you about your behavior.’ And I was like, ‘What have I done wrong?’ I was so nervous that they were gonna tell me off and I’d be, like, suspended from school. And they were like, ‘Okay, so you’re going to be playing the part of Hermione Granger in the [Harry Potter] audio-series.’ I was like, ‘Oh my God!’ I was so happy!”

She also reflects on her performance style: “I think I talk quite like Hermione, and in audio you have to pronounce your words a lot. And so I think Hermione sort of over-does that because she talks very well.”
Frankie Treadway and Max Lester will voice Harry and Ron in the first three audiobooks alongside Stanton, with Jaxon Knopf, Rhys Mulligan, and Nina Barker-Francis taking over starting with Goblet of Fire.
Hugh Laurie and Matthew Macfadyen lend their voices to Dumbledore and Voldemort.
While production details for HBO’s live-action adaptation remain closely guarded, the confirmed casting lineup signals the series will remain faithful to J.K. Rowling’s vision. With Stanton inhabiting Hermione across two mediums, the Harry Potter franchise is embracing a new era of multi-format storytelling that could set a standard for future adaptations.
