New Disney World Experience Coming to Tampa Bay Soon

Official Details Revealed

Tampa Bay shoppers have long faced a familiar choice when hunting discounted Disney Parks merchandise: order online, pay full price elsewhere, or take Interstate 4 toward Orlando. That trip can turn a bargain run into an all-day commitment before anyone reaches a checkout counter.

Now Disney has confirmed a closer option. A Disney Character Warehouse is planned for Tampa Premium Outlets, according to two Walt Disney World Resort job listings posted in August 2026. Disney hasn’t announced when the store will open, but its own hiring pages identify the location by name.

Disney Character Warehouse Confirmed Through Hiring

The clearest evidence comes from Disney Careers. A Merchandise Inventory Specialist posting, dated August 7, lists the work site as “Disney Character Warehouse, Tampa Premium Outlets in Tampa, FL.” Disney classifies the job under the Walt Disney World Resort business.

Three days later, Disney posted a full-time Heart of House Lead role for the same location. That listing describes opening, closing, and securing the store, handling deliveries, replenishing the sales floor, operating point-of-sale systems, and supervising Cast Members during daily operations.

Together, those details go beyond a generic hiring pool. Disney is staffing inventory control and floor leadership for a named store at a named shopping center. The listings call both openings “bench” positions, however, so they shouldn’t be read as an opening-day countdown.

Disney lists starting pay of $20.10 per hour for the inventory specialist and $21.10 per hour for the lead. Both are full-time roles requiring availability across seven days, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

What Tampa Premium Outlets Shoppers Can Expect

Disney hasn’t published a dedicated store page for the Tampa location or added a public suite number. The Tampa Premium Outlets center page identifies the property at 2300 Grand Cypress Drive in Lutz, despite Disney’s job listings using Tampa as the city label.

The Character Warehouse format already has a clear Central Florida identity. Simon describes its two Orlando stores as Disney retail locations selling official character toys, clothes, and collectibles. Inside the Magic has also covered the stores as an outlet for discounted Walt Disney World merchandise.

But shoppers shouldn’t assume every product, markdown, or policy will transfer unchanged to Tampa. Disney hasn’t released an opening assortment, pricing details, purchase limits, or information about Annual Passholder discounts. Inventory at outlet stores can shift quickly as merchandise moves through Disney’s retail system.

A New Option Beyond Walt Disney World

For Tampa Bay residents, the practical change is geographic. Walt Disney World remains the source business named in the postings, yet the store itself will sit west of the resort corridor. That puts official Disney retail closer to shoppers who may want park merchandise without building a day around Orlando traffic.

The Tampa expansion also arrives after years in which Florida’s familiar Character Warehouse footprint centered on the Orlando International and Vineland Premium Outlets. Inside the Magic has tracked both Orlando outlet locations and reported on the Sawgrass Mills store closure in South Florida.

That context makes Tampa more than another mall tenant. Operationally, hiring an inventory specialist who will coordinate with Walt Disney World data teams and a distribution center suggests Disney is connecting the shop directly to its existing merchandise pipeline. It isn’t simply licensing its name to an outside retailer.

Disney Merchandise Strategy Moves Closer to Guests

Disney has tested ways to put physical retail beyond its resort gates. Inside the Magic reported on a Disney pop-up store in Pittsburgh and a second story examined the company’s wider retail strategy.

The Disney Character Warehouse in Tampa appears more operationally defined than a limited pop-up because Disney is recruiting permanent-style store functions, including inventory accuracy, cash handling, stockroom work, and daily leadership. Still, Disney hasn’t called the location permanent in a consumer announcement, and no lease term has been made public.

There is also a financial logic to the move. Outlet stores give Disney another channel for selling merchandise outside the high-cost theme park environment while reaching locals who aren’t visiting the resort that day. For shoppers, the appeal is simpler: legitimate Disney goods and the possibility of markdowns, without needing park admission.

Opening Date and Store Details Remain Unannounced

The biggest unanswered question is timing. Disney hasn’t disclosed an opening date, exact suite, square footage, operating hours, or grand-opening plan for the Tampa Premium Outlets location. Simon’s public center materials do not yet provide a dedicated listing for the store.

Guests should wait for Disney or Tampa Premium Outlets to publish consumer-facing details before planning a dedicated trip. The job postings confirm the store and show that hiring has reached inventory and leadership functions, but they don’t say when doors will open.

Next, shoppers should watch the outlet’s official directory, Disney Careers listings, and any announcement from Walt Disney World Resort. Until one of those sources supplies a date, the Disney Character Warehouse is confirmed for Tampa Bay, but its public timeline remains unfinished.

Since first stepping inside the Magic Kingdom at nine years old, I knew I was destined to be a theme Park enthusiast. Although I consider myself a theme Park junkie, I still have much to learn and discover about Disney. Universal Orlando Resort has my heart; being an Annual Passholder means visiting my favorite places on Earth when possible! When I’m not writing about Disney, Universal, or entertainment news, you’ll find me cruising on my motorcycle, hiking throughout my local metro parks, or spending quality time with my girlfriend, family, or friends.
