More Severe Flooding: This Time at Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom Flooding

When visiting Walt Disney World, it is always important to remember to pack for the elements. Sunscreen is always essential and during the winter months, a sweater is always advisable. Of course, we would never judge if you “forgot” your sweatshirt and had to buy one at the Parks. And during certain times of the year, an umbrella and/or poncho is always a good thing to have on hand.

Florida can have some pretty wild weather, especially in the summer months, when hurricanes can hit. However, intense rainstorms do sometimes like to make an early appearance. Florida is used to a lot of rain, so many places — including Walt Disney World theme parks — have excellent drainage systems to help prevent flooding. However, sometimes the rain is overwhelming, and the water simply comes down faster than the drains can move it out.

Guests visiting Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort recently experienced a huge downpour that resulted in flooding throughout the Park. Many Guests had a great time playing in the water and didn’t let the rain dampen their spirits, even if it dampened everything else. Well, it seems like the Magic Kingdom didn’t want to be left out of the watery fun.

Streaming the Magic shared a video where Guests were seen walking in heavily flooded streets by Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café in Tomorrowland. It was no longer raining when the video was taken, but many Guests were probably happy about that. The water was more than ankle-deep, and Guests were seen pushing their strollers through the deep water as they tried to keep their kids dry.

Take a look at the crazy flooding below:

When severe flooding hits a theme park like this, it is very important to be careful if you are near it. Flooding can mean that things can’t be seen, so you could trip or step off of the road. It is also important to wipe your feet thoroughly when you go indoors. While some stores have carpeting, a lot of queues and restaurants are tile, so things get very slippery very fast. Disney does its best to keep Guests safe, but it is important we all do our part as well.
