Mickey’s Philharmagic Closing for ‘Zootopia’ at Disney Today
Guests visiting one Disney park today (November 27, 2025) will find Mickey’s PhilharMagic unavailable for one surprising reason.
Mickey’s PhilharMagic first opened at Disney World in the early 2000s as a 3D musical experience built around classic Disney animation and in-theater physical effects.

Guests follow Donald Duck after he borrows Mickey’s sorcerer’s hat and moves through scenes from Beauty and the Beast (1991), The Little Mermaid (1989), and Peter Pan (1953).
The theater incorporates wind, water spray, and scent effects layered over the animated presentation.
In 2021, the attraction received a major content update with the addition of a Coco (2017) sequence set to “Un Poco Loco” during Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary.
Versions of Mickey’s PhilharMagic – including the version at Hong Kong Disneyland, first opened in 2005 – currently operate at several Disney resorts worldwide. Closures are typically limited to short refurbishment periods, like the recent temporary closure at Magic Kingdom

Disney Confirms Today’s Closure Is for a Private Event
Disney previously confirmed that Mickey’s PhilharMagic is closed at Hong Kong Disneyland all day today, November 27, 2025.
The closure is not related to routine operations. The theater is being used exclusively for a private, invite-only preview screening of the upcoming animated sequel Zootopia 2.

Because the screening is not open to the public, guests visiting the park today cannot access the attraction at any point.
The shutdown applies specifically to the version of Mickey’s PhilharMagic located in Fantasyland at Hong Kong Disneyland.
Disney currently expects the attraction to return to normal operations tomorrow, November 28.
How Private Events Affect Daily Park Operations
Disney frequently hosts private and corporate events inside its parks, most often during evening hours. These events typically result in early park closures rather than the full-day shutdown of individual attractions.

Daytime attraction takeovers are far less common.
Earlier this year, guests were prevented from accessing parts of Walt Disney Studios Park — soon to become Disney Adventure World — as early as 11 a.m. due to a private event.
Today’s closure differs in that a standard-capacity indoor attraction has been removed from daily guest circulation for the entire day.

The original Zootopia was a major commercial and critical success, making its sequel one of the studio’s most closely watched upcoming releases.
Holding a preview inside an operating Disney park allows for a controlled screening environment tied directly to the brand’s resort infrastructure.
But from an operations standpoint, the closure reduces Fantasyland’s indoor ride capacity for the full day.
