Guests visiting Disney World will experience a whole new offering in transportation beginning August 1, 2023.

Two leading options in transportation for Guests headed to the Walt Disney World Resort have married their talents, meaning that visitors to the Central Florida Disney Parks will have a brand-new mega-option when looking for transportation from Orlando International Airport (MCO) to the Disney World Resort.

According to Nexstar Media’s Scott Gustin, Mears Connect and Sunshine Flyer, two of the current service used by Guests seeking transportation from MCO to the parks, have merged. The new service will be called Mears Connect Driven by Sunshine, once the merger is official on August 1, 2023.

Mears Connect and the Sunshine Flyer today announced they have entered into a definitive agreement to merge the two companies effective August 1. The service will be named Mears Connect Driven by Sunshine.

Transportation services that offer Guests rides from Orlando International Airport directly to their resort hotels on Disney World’s property have always been popular, but they became vitally important when Disney World’s free transportation service, the Magical Express, stopped its service in January 2022. While other transportation options exist, such as Uber, Lyft, and a variety of car rental companies, among the most popular services used by Disney World Guests has been Mears Connect and the Sunshine Flyer service.

“While we have been competitors in the past, we have always shared the same goals to provide guests with safe, reliable, cost-effective, stress-free travel between the airport and Walt Disney World resorts,” said Rebecca K. Horton, Chief Operating Officer of Mears Transportation. “By merging operations, sharing ideas, expanding services, collaborating on what’s best for the guest, we believe we can provide an even better guest experience given the challenges and opportunities in today’s travel market.”
