Marvel Confirms Several Characters for Upcoming Avengers/X-Men Ensemble

From Avengers: Endgame (2019) to the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday (2026), the Marvel Cinematic Universe has made quite a habit of delivering all-star line-ups that bring its biggest heroes (and villains) together for massive crossover events.

Doomsday boasts an impressive roster, which so far includes Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Paul Rudd (Scott Lang/Ant-Man), Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), and Letitia Wright (Shuri/Black Panther), and not to mention Tony Stark/Iron Man legend Robert Downey Jr. stepping into the role of Doctor Victor Von Doom, AKA Doctor Doom, who made a sneaky debut in this year’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps (2025).

That same epic ensemble energy is now carrying over into gaming. After months of speculation, “Marvel Cosmic Invasion” has revealed its full roster — a lineup of 15 heavyweight comic book names that unite characters from across the Avengers and X-Men universes.

The beat ’em up game, which has already received two trailers showcasing its retro gameplay and cosmic storylines, looks to bring together both Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and other iconic characters. But while Marvel has officially confirmed most of the characters, two have been missing.

Now, following a PC demo launch for the game, several outlets have revealed those final two playable characters, completing the ensemble. The Avengers‘ Iron Man and X-Men‘s Phoenix will round out the cast as the final additions to the roster.

Previously announced characters are Beta Ray Bill, Black Panther, Captain America, Cosmic Ghost Rider, Nova, Phyla-Vell, Rocket Raccoon, She-Hulk, Spider-Man, Storm, Silver Surfer, Venom, and Wolverine.

It’s a lineup that blends street-level heroes, cosmic defenders, and X-Men icons — the kind of crossover Marvel gaming fans have been waiting years for.

Per Marvel.com, here’s the official description for the game:

A cosmic battle awaits! After Annihilus has launched an unprecedented attack across the galaxy, all life hangs in the balance. Nova, Spider-Man, Wolverine, Phyla-Vell, Captain America, and many more heroes, both earth-born and cosmic, will join forces in a star-spanning brawling adventure against the deadly Annihilation Wave. From New York City to the depths of the Negative Zone, the future of the universe will be fought across the stars in MARVEL Cosmic Invasion!

The mix of Avengers and mutants could mark the first major step toward merging multiple corners of the Marvel Universe within a single gaming narrative, even before Doomsday — which is expected to end the MCU’s “Multiverse Saga” and launch the “Mutant Saga” — arrives in theaters.

With Avengers: Doomsday set to expand the cinematic Multiverse next year and “Cosmic Invasion” promising a galaxy-spanning showdown on consoles, it’s clear that team-ups remain the heart of Marvel’s storytelling — whether on the big screen or in our hands.

Here’s hoping that the upcoming film will also confirm some more big names soon.

“Marvel Cosmic Invasion” will be released for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2 later this year.
