Marvel Confirms Unexpected ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Direction as MCU Mutants Are Officially Overhauled
Marvel’s upcoming Multiverse showdown continues to get bigger.
As the release of Avengers: Doomsday (2026) approaches, new details keep emerging online through promotional artwork, merchandise, and footage shown behind closed doors. Marvel has already confirmed that the film will unite heroes from across multiple franchises. Still, one recent reveal has fans talking about a familiar mutant who appears to be getting a fresh look.
While the focus has largely remained on Doctor Doom and the massive cast, the latest discussion centers on the X-Men and what Marvel may have planned for Beast.
The X-Men Are Finally Crossing Into the MCU
Few Marvel projects have generated as much anticipation as Avengers: Doomsday.
The movie will bring together MCU veterans, the Fantastic Four, and several major characters from Fox’s X-Men universe. Marvel has confirmed the return of James Marsden’s Cyclops, Patrick Stewart’s Professor X, Ian McKellen’s Magneto, Kelsey Grammer’s Beast, Alan Cumming’s Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn’s Mystique, and Channing Tatum’s Gambit.
For many fans, seeing those actors return is almost as exciting as the movie itself. These performers helped establish Marvel on the big screen long before the MCU became a global phenomenon.
Now they appear set to join the battle against Doctor Doom as the Multiverse faces one of its biggest threats yet.

Beast May Look Different This Time
Among all the returning mutants, Beast has become one of the most discussed characters.
Hank McCoy’s appearance has evolved several times throughout Fox’s X-Men films. Kelsey Grammer first played the character before Nicholas Hoult later portrayed a younger version across multiple movies.
When Grammer made his surprise return during the post-credits scene of The Marvels (2023), many assumed Marvel had finalized the character’s design.
However, recently released promotional artwork suggests another update may be on the way.
The artwork features several confirmed characters from Avengers: Doomsday, including Beast. While it is not an official live-action image from the film itself, it does offer one of the clearest looks yet at Marvel’s current plans for the character.

Merchandise Adds to the Speculation
The most noticeable detail involves Beast’s costume.
The promotional art appears to show the character without any upper-body clothing, exposing his blue fur-covered torso. That would mark a departure from previous live-action appearances, where Beast usually wore a uniform, lab coat, or other clothing.
The artwork is not the only source fueling speculation.
Marvel Legends figures connected to Avengers: Doomsday also appear to feature the same general design. The figure includes Beast’s glasses from The Marvels and an X-Men-branded belt.
Marvel has not officially stated that this will be Beast’s final appearance in the movie. Still, the similarities between the artwork and merchandise have led many fans to believe the redesign is legitimate.

How the X-Men Enter the Story
At the same time, reports from CinemaCon may have revealed how the Fox-era mutants become involved in the film.
According to attendees, footage showed Professor Xavier at the X-Mansion as a mysterious flash of light approached. The sequence appeared to hint at a multiversal event that could pull the X-Men into the larger conflict.
Those reports also suggest the Avengers and X-Men may not immediately become allies.
Instead, the two groups could clash before eventually joining forces against Doctor Doom.

Marvel’s Biggest Team-Up Yet
CinemaCon attendees also described several action sequences involving both MCU heroes and X-Men characters.
One featured Gambit battling Shang-Chi. Another reportedly showed Mystique fighting Yelena Belova before using her powers to create confusion during the confrontation.
Those moments helped generate significant buzz among attendees and offered a glimpse of the scale Marvel appears to be pursuing.
With the Avengers, Fantastic Four, and X-Men all reportedly heading toward the same conflict, Avengers: Doomsday is shaping up to be one of the studio’s most ambitious projects.
Looking Ahead
Marvel has spent years preparing for the arrival of mutants in the MCU, and Avengers: Doomsday appears ready to move that plan forward in a major way.
Whether Beast’s new look ultimately appears on screen remains to be seen. However, between the returning X-Men cast, multiversal story elements, and growing Doctor Doom threat, the film continues to build momentum as December approaches.
