The incident occurred at a hotel in Kissimmee, just a few miles from Disney World. Authorities have identified the victim as 55-year-old Robert Krusinowski, a long-term resident of the hotel. Police reports indicate that Lane was attacked by another guest, Piero Estefano But Castillo, 25, following an argument that escalated into violence. Witnesses described the scene as chaotic and horrifying, with several guests reporting hearing loud shouting before the altercation turned deadly.

According to law enforcement, Castillo repeatedly struck Krusinowski with a fire extinguisher, inflicting fatal injuries. Emergency responders arrived quickly, but Krusinowski was pronounced dead at the scene. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, though early reports suggest the dispute began as a verbal argument earlier in the day. Castillo was arrested on charges of second-degree murder and is currently being held without bond at the Osceola County Jail.

Hotel management released a statement expressing their condolences to Lane’s family and affirming their commitment to guest safety. “This was an isolated and tragic incident. We are cooperating fully with local authorities and have taken steps to ensure the safety of all guests,” the statement read.

The incident has drawn significant attention due to its proximity to Walt Disney World, a destination known for its family-friendly environment and reputation for safety. Many guests expressed disbelief, with one commenting, “This area is supposed to feel safe, especially being so close to Disney. It’s unsettling.”

Local law enforcement has ramped up patrols around the area to reassure visitors and residents. While the Disney World area generally remains safe, sporadic crimes like this serve as stark reminders of the unpredictable nature of violence.

This tragic event has also sparked conversations about safety measures in extended-stay hotels, which often house long-term residents alongside tourists. Community advocates call for increased security measures, including enhanced surveillance and stricter guest screening protocols.

As the investigation continues, authorities are piecing together what led to this deadly confrontation. For now, Krusinowski’s family and friends are left grieving the sudden and devastating loss of a loved one while the community grapples with the aftermath of a senseless act of violence.

  1. I live here in FL near Disney. This story has nothing to do with Disney. There are hundreds of hotel, motels, resorts in the vicinity of Disney property. Almost every surrounding town has a plethora of lodgings. This particular hotel is a placement for those who are financially challenged and that has nothing to do with Disney. What this story is about a human tragedy resulting in the death of a local man. Deepest sympathies to his family. Many, many prayers. These tragedies happen everywhere and no matter where or when – it’s heartbreaking.

  2. Did I miss the name of the hotel? I mean — if you are taking the time to report, including where the victim was attacked would be a good idea.
