If you’ve wandered through Tomorrowland recently, you might have noticed something big missing—literally. The landscape around Space Mountain has shifted yet again, and one longtime snack stop has been completely wiped from the map.
Disney has been slowly reshaping Tomorrowland for a few years now, starting with the sleek arrival of TRON Lightcycle / Run in 2023. That addition didn’t just bring high-speed thrills; it kicked off a whole new vibe for the area—cleaner, more modern, and a lot more unified in design. Since then, we’ve seen changes like the refurbishment of Astro Orbiter and news of a total overhaul coming to Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin later this year.
But this week, Disney didn’t just refresh a building—they tore one down.
Cool Ship Is Completely Gone
Once tucked neatly near the entrance of Space Mountain, Cool Ship has officially been leveled. Gone are the misting stations, the grab-and-go snacks, and that quirky red spaceship on top that many fans speculated was a leftover prop from a long-forgotten Tomorrowland attraction.
All that’s left now? A big dirt pit and heavy machinery. Construction crews have ripped up the entire foundation, and two rectangular trenches stretch out from the center—possibly hinting at upcoming utility work or a brand-new layout. While Disney has quietly labeled the closure as temporary and suggested the kiosk could return later this year, the current state of the site feels a lot more permanent than that.
What Cool Ship Used To Offer
Cool Ship wasn’t flashy, but it was a favorite for many guests looking to cool off or grab a quick snack. It offered drinks, popcorn, and ice cream treats—plus that misting “Cool Scanner” that sprayed refreshing water, making it a must-stop in the Florida heat. It was easy to overlook, but it did its job well.
The future of that beloved red spaceship, refurbished back in 2021, is now also up in the air—literally and figuratively.
In the meantime, visitors craving a sweet treat or something to sip on can still head to Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies or The Lunching Pad.
A New Tomorrowland Is Emerging
Disney’s clearly aiming for a Tomorrowland that feels fresh and cohesive, something more in line with the futuristic promise the land has always hinted at. The piecemeal look of old—retro elements mashed together with newer tech—is quickly being phased out in favor of one streamlined identity.
Between the TRON-inspired aesthetics, the Astro Orbiter updates, and now a full-scale demolition at Cool Ship, the transformation is picking up speed. Whether Cool Ship returns in a familiar form or something brand-new takes its place, one thing is obvious: Tomorrowland is boldly moving forward.
And as bittersweet as it is to see these nostalgic touches vanish, Disney’s vision for the future seems determined to deliver on that long-promised “world of tomorrow.”
