Magic Kingdom Surprises Guests With New Marvel Attraction at Disney World
Disney fans visiting Magic Kingdom may want to keep their eyes peeled—because something unexpected just touched down in Tomorrowland.

Disney Parks have built their reputation on immersive storytelling and memorable guest experiences, but every now and then, something happens that even the most seasoned parkgoers don’t see coming.
Character meet-and-greets have long been a staple of any Disney vacation. From classic encounters with Mickey Mouse to rare appearances by lesser-seen characters, these moments often become highlights of a trip. In recent years, Disney has continued to expand its offerings with rotating character appearances, giving guests new reasons to return again and again.
Seasonal offerings are a big part of that strategy. At the moment, Magic Kingdom guests can meet Mr. and Mrs. Easter Bunny for a limited-time experience. Over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Earth Day celebrations are bringing additional character sightings throughout the month. These types of appearances have grown in popularity, especially among fans hoping to meet characters that aren’t usually part of the daily lineup.

Still, even with these rotating experiences, one recent appearance has caught fans completely off guard—Star-Lord showing up in Magic Kingdom.
Normally, guests looking to meet the Guardians of the Galaxy leader need to head over to EPCOT. Since September 2024, Star-Lord has been greeting visitors near Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, one of the park’s newest attractions.
Cosmic Rewind has quickly made a name for itself thanks to its unique ride system and storytelling approach. The indoor coaster features a reverse launch and rotating ride vehicles that keep guests focused on the action as they join the Guardians on a galaxy-saving mission. Another standout feature is its changing soundtrack, meaning each ride can feel slightly different. Due to its popularity, guests often rely on Lightning Lane or a virtual queue to experience it.

Star-Lord’s meet-and-greet at EPCOT fits perfectly alongside the attraction. Guests can pose for photos, collect autographs, and even join him for a spontaneous dance session inspired by his love of classic music. Typical appearance times are around 11:25 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 2:10 p.m., and 3:10 p.m., though Disney notes these are always subject to change.
That’s why his sudden appearance in Tomorrowland has generated so much excitement.
The futuristic setting of Tomorrowland actually makes a fitting backdrop for a Marvel character with cosmic roots. Guests recently spotted Star-Lord dancing alongside Chip, creating a crossover moment that quickly made the rounds online. Fans embraced the unexpected pairing, celebrating the playful energy it brought to the park.
Never a dull moment in Magic Kingdom

Moments like this are a reminder of how Disney can still surprise its guests. While scheduled entertainment is a major draw, it’s often these unplanned interactions that leave the biggest impression. Those lucky enough to witness the encounter got a one-of-a-kind experience that isn’t typically part of Magic Kingdom’s offerings.
There’s also a bigger reason why this appearance stands out. Marvel characters are used sparingly at Walt Disney World due to an existing agreement with Universal Orlando Resort. Because Universal holds theme park rights to many Marvel properties east of the Mississippi River, Disney has limitations on how these characters can be featured in Florida.
As a result, Walt Disney World doesn’t have a Marvel-themed land like those found at Disneyland Resort or Disneyland Paris. Instead, Disney has focused on integrating select characters—particularly from Guardians of the Galaxy—into EPCOT. Cosmic Rewind and Star-Lord’s meet-and-greet are key examples of how Disney has worked within these restrictions.

That’s what makes this Magic Kingdom appearance so unusual. Seeing Star-Lord outside EPCOT raises questions about whether this was a one-time surprise or a sign of more flexibility in the future.
So far, Disney hasn’t confirmed any ongoing plans for Star-Lord in Tomorrowland. As always, character appearances can change at any time, and moments like this are often spontaneous rather than scheduled. Still, guest reactions suggest there’s a strong interest in more crossovers like this. Watching classic Disney characters interact with Marvel heroes adds an extra layer of excitement to a park day.
For now, guests hoping to meet Star-Lord should still plan a visit to EPCOT for the most reliable opportunity. But as this recent sighting proves, sometimes the most memorable Disney experiences happen when you least expect them. And if Star-Lord shows up in Tomorrowland again, don’t be surprised if he brings even more unexpected company along.
