Magic Kingdom Shuts Down Peter Pan’s Flight for Second Day, Replacement Activity Appears
Peter Pan isn’t flying over London at Magic Kingdom right now.
Peter Pan’s Flight has entered its second day of unexpected downtime at Walt Disney World, leaving one of Fantasyland’s most popular classic attractions unavailable to guests.
The ride experienced problems on September 21 and remained closed through the end of the day. Guests hoping the attraction would return when Magic Kingdom opened the following morning haven’t had much luck.
As of 1:40 p.m. on September 22, Peter Pan’s Flight remained closed.
Disney has not publicly revealed what is keeping the attraction offline, and there is currently no announced reopening time.
But something else has appeared outside the ride.
Disney gives guests something else to do

Cast Members will sometimes introduce games or other simple activities during attraction downtime, particularly when younger guests are waiting nearby. In this case, the hopscotch gives families something to do while Peter Pan’s Flight remains unavailable.
Of course, it also comes after the attraction spent significant time closed the previous day.
That doesn’t confirm Peter Pan’s Flight will experience an extended closure. However, guests shouldn’t assume the ride is about to reopen until Disney restores its operating status.
The unexpected shutdown also has a larger impact because Peter Pan’s Flight routinely draws some of Fantasyland’s longest lines. The classic dark ride sends guests aboard suspended pirate ships through scenes inspired by Peter Pan(1953), including the famous flight over London.
Peter Pan’s Flight has already changed
Peter Pan’s Flight has been the subject of plenty of discussion among Disney fans in recent years.
Disney temporarily closed the attraction in 2024 to reimagine its Native American scene. The company changed the scene and introduced new characters alongside Tiger Lily.
That decision received mixed reactions from longtime fans. Some supported Disney updating the scene, while others wanted the company to maintain the classic attraction closer to its earlier version.
There have also been rumors and fan speculation about whether Peter Pan’s Flight could eventually disappear altogether as Magic Kingdom continues evolving.
There is currently no indication that this closure has anything to do with those rumors.
Disney has not announced a permanent closure, replacement or new refurbishment for Peter Pan’s Flight. The attraction remains part of Magic Kingdom’s lineup.
Instead, this appears to be an unusually lengthy operational closure that has now carried across two days.
For guests currently visiting Magic Kingdom, the My Disney Experience app will provide the clearest indication of when the attraction returns.
Until then, the pirate ships remain grounded, and guests passing through this corner of Fantasyland might have to settle for a game of hopscotch instead.
