Magic Kingdom Mayhem: Disney Monorail Suffers Leaks, Zero Visibility With Guests on Board
A sudden summer storm turned a routine ride aboard the Walt Disney World Monorail into an uncomfortable and wet experience for guests traveling to and from Magic Kingdom Park this week. What began as a typical rainy afternoon quickly escalated into an ordeal that left Monorail riders facing leaking windows and reduced visibility.
On Tuesday, June 10, heavy rainstorms swept across Central Florida, drenching Walt Disney World Resort and its many theme park visitors. Despite the intensity of the weather, the Monorail continued operations throughout the afternoon, carrying guests between the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC), EPCOT, and around the Magic Kingdom loop.
Several guests reported unsettling conditions aboard the Monorail, noting that the weather outside wasn’t the only thing guests had to worry about.
“It’s raining so hard at Walt Disney World right now that you CANNOT see Contemporary Resort from the Magic Kingdom Monorail station!!” wrote X (formerly known as Twitter) user @DrewDisneyDude, who shared a video showing the storm obscuring all visibility from the station platform. The downpour was so intense that Disney’s Contemporary Resort was no longer visible from just a short distance away.

In response to that post, another guest chimed in with an even more alarming video showing water leaking through the windows inside a Monorail Coral cabin. “So hard that the monorail windows are leaking,” wrote @akademanda.

While storms are a regular part of summer afternoons at the Central Florida Disney parks, the leaks and foggy view disrupted what is usually one of the most convenient and iconic ways to travel through Walt Disney World Resort.
The EPCOT line of the Monorail had already experienced an extended outage earlier in the day, forcing guests to find alternate transportation. Though service eventually resumed, the disruptions and weather issues added up to a challenging day for many parkgoers trying to navigate the Central Florida Disney destination.
The Walt Disney World Monorail has been in operation since the resort opened in 1971. It connects multiple Disney Resorts and theme parks, with stops at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, EPCOT, Magic Kingdom Park, Disney’s Contemporary Resort, and the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC).
Whether Walt Disney World Resort addressed the reported leak or removed the affected Monorail cabin from operation remains unclear.
