Multiple arrests have been made in connection with the tragic death of former One Direction singer Liam Payne.

On Thursday, authorities in Argentina announced the apprehension of two key individuals identified as a drug dealer and a hotel maintenance worker. Both are alleged to have supplied Payne with the narcotics found in his system at the time of his fatal fall from a Buenos Aires hotel balcony.

Additionally, an Argentinian businessman who was a friend of Payne’s has been charged with abandonment of a person following death–he remains at large. The man allegedly posed as the musician’s manager and concealed his drug issues from his family.

Reports indicate that investigators conducted raids at multiple locations connected to the accused. Forensic evidence, including drug paraphernalia discovered in Payne’s hotel room, has played a vital role in solidifying the case against the arrested individuals.

Circumstances Surrounding Liam Payne’s Death

On October 16, 2024, Payne fell from a third-floor hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, a fall that was later determined to have been influenced by his intoxicated state. In the hours preceding his death, the hotel staff reported Payne exhibiting erratic behavior, raising alarms about his well-being.

Details surrounding the fall paint a troubling picture. Toxicology reports indicate that Payne had alcohol, cocaine, and a prescription antidepressant in his system at the time, raising alarms about the potential for an impaired state of consciousness. Forensic findings revealed that the injuries sustained from the fall included multiple trauma and internal hemorrhages consistent with such a height, leading to the conclusion that he may not have been in a position to brace himself or mitigate the impact of the fall.

Investigators confirmed that Payne had consumed a blend of recreational drugs, including a substance known as “pink cocaine,” which is often associated with dangerous effects. This cocktail of drugs, coupled with significant alcohol consumption, created a hazardous environment for the artist, ultimately leading to his untimely demise. It was reported that the hotel had made a 911 call shortly before the incident, expressing concerns about Payne’s physical state and potential for self-harm.
