On October 6, 2024, Governor Ron DeSantis declared a state of emergency in several jurisdictions across Florida, including Polk County, which houses LEGOLAND Florida Resort. The declaration was made following predictions from the National Hurricane Center, which indicated that Hurricane Milton could make landfall as a Category 3 storm, bringing winds up to 120 mph.

Neighboring attractions such as Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Orlando Resort are in adjacent Orange County, also under the state of emergency.

As Hurricane Milton approaches, LEGOLAND Florida Resort plans to remain open while closely monitoring weather conditions. On X (formerly Twitter), the Central Florida theme park shared this statement:

“PARK UPDATE: We are closely monitoring Hurricane Milton,” LEGOLAND Florida Resort wrote. “At this time, our Park operations and hours are continuing as normal. Please check back here or on our website for updates.”

Impact on Park Operations and Experiences

Despite LEGOLAND Florida Resort’s commitment to maintaining regular operations amid preparations for Hurricane Milton, the storm may impact specific attractions and experiences. As is often the case during severe weather events, aspects of the park may face interruptions or temporary closures, especially those that are outdoors or susceptible to heavy winds and rain.

Specific amenities, including LEGOLAND Pirate Island and LEGOLAND Beach Retreat, may not be available due to safety precautions related to the hurricane.

In response to potential disruptions, LEGOLAND Florida Resort implemented rescheduling and cancellation policies for guests affected by the impending hurricane. If a National Hurricane Center warning impacts visits in the next seven days, guests can opt for refunds or reschedule without incurring fees.

LEGOLAND Florida Resort stipulated that it would not be responsible for any reservations made through third-party services, such as airlines or rental car companies, which placed the onus on guests to manage their travel arrangements.

Guests headed to LEGOLAND Florida Resort should check local weather forecasts and the theme park’s website. If they have any questions, Contact Guest Relations at 888-690-5346. Representatives are available from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST.
