The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is known for its bold casting choices, and one role that has generated considerable buzz over the years is Dazzler, AKA Alison Blaire.
With her powers to manipulate light and sound, the character has sparked interest from fans who believe Taylor Swift would be a perfect fit.

However, recent rumors suggest that another pop superstar, Lady Gaga, could be stepping into the spotlight as Dazzler instead. As Marvel continues to expand its roster of Mutants, it seems the casting of Dazzler may be taking an unexpected turn.
Taylor Swift and the Dazzler Speculation
Swift’s potential casting as Dazzler seemed almost certain at one point. Fans believed she might make her debut in Deadpool & Wolverine (2024), particularly after Swift was spotted hanging out with the film’s director, Shawn Levy, and its stars, Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) and Hugh Jackman (Wolverine).
In an interview with The Vancouver Sun, Reynolds, who is close friends with Swift, added fuel to the fire when discussing the casting rumors. He teased, “I love it [the gossip]. I think it is a sign of how eager people are to get a peek behind the curtain in this world. Every single one of these secrets and spoilers will be revealed on July 26.”

It didn’t hurt the veracity of rumors that Swift already has an established relationship with Disney, having released both Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions (2020) and The Eras Tour (2024) on Disney+.
However, when July passed without a Swift cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine, fans were left to wonder if the pop star’s MCU debut would come later. While many are still hopeful, the latest rumors suggest that Marvel might be moving in a different direction.
Lady Gaga as Dazzler: The New Contender
According to Marvel scooper My Time To Shine Hello, Marvel President Kevin Feige is reportedly more interested in casting Lady Gaga as Dazzler. This would mark a major shift, as Gaga’s involvement would introduce a new level of star power to the MCU.

Gaga, known for her iconic musical career, has already ventured into the world of comic book films. Earlier this year, she starred as Harley Quinn in Joker: Folie à Deux (2024), alongside Joaquin Phoenix. While the film received mixed reviews, Gaga’s performance was widely praised, cementing her status as a rising star in the superhero genre.
Gaga’s Growing Presence in the Superhero World
In addition to her work with DC, there are rumors that James Gunn— the mastermind behind Guardians of the Galaxy and now overseeing the DC Universe— is also eyeing Gaga for a separate role in the DCU. With her undeniable talent and growing appeal, Gaga is quickly becoming a hot commodity in the superhero ranks.

While Lady Gaga is a fantastic choice for the role of Dazzler, some argue she could be suited for a more significant MCU role. Dazzler, although an interesting character, has never been one of the major players in the comics.
Given Gaga’s acting career – which has largely seen her take on lead roles, such as House of Gucci (2021) and A Star is Born (2018) – it’s possible she could take on a more prominent part in the MCU. In contrast, Taylor Swift’s acting roles have generally been smaller, supporting parts alongside her music career.
The Future of Dazzler in the MCU
The future of Dazzler’s casting is still up in the air, but with Marvel’s plans to bring more Mutants into the MCU, fans won’t have to wait too long for answers.

At the recent Disney APAC Content Showcase in Singapore, Feige teased the imminent arrival of Mutants, stating, “I think you will see that continue in our next few movies with some X-Men players that you might recognize. Right after that, the whole story of Secret Wars really leads us into a new age of Mutants and of the X-Men.”
