Kang Actor Jonathan Majors Speaks Out on MCU Return

Jonathan Majors may be gone from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but his latest comments have sparked renewed debate over whether fans have truly seen the last of Kang the Conqueror.

In a September 2025 interview with The Sun U.S., Majors sidestepped a direct answer when asked if he might ever return to the role that defined his short-lived MCU era. His response was brief and intriguing.

“I cannot say anything about that,” Majors told the outlet. “Well, it’s a Multiverse, so there’s always that. Always a lot of opportunity for that.”

That simple remark has since fueled speculation that Kang’s story might not be over, despite Marvel’s shift toward Doctor Doom as the central villain of its Multiverse Saga. Fans quickly pointed out that the Multiverse, by its very nature, allows for infinite versions of every character. A Variant of Kang could still exist somewhere–perhaps even played by a new actor–leaving Majors’ words open to more than one interpretation.

The Loki and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023) star added that he was “very glad” to know some fans still want him back, acknowledging the continued enthusiasm for his portrayal of the time-traveling villain.

That affection for the MCU also came through earlier in the year. In April 2025, Majors spoke warmly about his experience working with Marvel, showing clear fondness for both the studio and his castmates. “Yeah, of course I say yes. Disney, Marvel Studios, I love them. Tom Hiddleston, loved working with that guy. Loved working with Paul Rudd. Loved working with Gugu Mbatha-Raw,” Majors said.

At the time, his comments sounded like a farewell–an actor expressing gratitude for a creative chapter that had come to a close. But in light of his more recent interview, some fans believe those April remarks may have been an early signal that he wasn’t entirely finished with the Marvel world.

Marvel Studios has since rewritten its long-term plans. During San Diego Comic-Con 2024, Kevin Feige confirmed that Robert Downey Jr. would step into the MCU again, this time as Victor Von Doom. The move officially ended the Kang Dynasty storyline that once centered on Majors’ character, redirecting the focus toward Doom’s rise as the franchise’s next major threat.

Still, with Majors leaving the idea of a return open–and Marvel continuing to explore alternate realities–the conversation around Kang’s future hasn’t gone away. The Multiverse remains the studio’s biggest storytelling tool, one that can rewrite or revisit nearly any character’s fate.

Whether or not Majors himself ever returns, the actor’s interviews in both April and September 2025 show that he hasn’t completely shut the door on the Marvel universe that launched him into superstardom. And if there’s one rule the MCU has taught audiences, it’s that no one ever truly disappears forever.
