‘Jurassic World Rebirth 2’ Reportedly Confirmed
Jurassic World Rebirth (2025) didn’t exactly win over longtime fans and critics with its poor script, underwritten characters, and overall story, but it delivered for Universal Pictures.
The film stomped to $869.1 million worldwide last summer, landing among 2025’s top global earners and securing a Best Visual Effects nomination at the 98th Academy Awards. For a franchise some felt had run out of road after 2022’s Dominion, that’s a solid success.

Rebirth’s attempt to sidestep elements of Fallen Kingdom (2018) and Dominion (2022) drew mixed reactions. Some fans embraced the reset approach; others weren’t pleased by its retcon-heavy reset. Still, the commercial performance suggests audiences remain invested in the brand, which has proven highly lucrative since its arrival with the 1993 film.
Directed by Gareth Edwards (2014’s Godzilla), the seventh installment moves away from the mainland dinosaur action and centers on a another jungle island adventure. Scarlett Johansson leads the ensemble as Zora Bennett, a specialist recruited by a pharmaceutical company to retrieve dinosaur DNA from a third abandoned InGen island, Ile Saint-Hubert.
Alongside Mahershala Ali (Duncan Kincaid) and Jonathan Bailey (Dr. Henry Loomis), Zora’s team discovers that the island is home to mutant dinosaurs that have been left to thrive.

A New Jurassic World Film Is Taking Shape
Now, signs point to another film being in development. Industry listings from UK production tracker Film Base reference “the next Jurassic” as one of several major tentpoles heading into production in the country, reportedly beginning in March.
Universal hasn’t made an announcement, but the timeline mirrors the rapid turnaround that preceded Rebirth’s release. If confirmed, it would mark the eighth film in the long-running Jurassic saga and likely continue building around the cast introduced last year.
Jurassic World Rebirth stars Scarlett Johansson (Avengers: Endgame), Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton), Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (The Lincoln Lawyer), Rupert Friend (Obi-Wan Kenobi), Mahershala Ali (The Green Book), Luna Blaise (Manifest), David Iacono (Dead Boy Detectives), Audrina Miranda (Lopez vs Lopez), Philippine Velge (Station Eleven), Bechir Sylvain (BMF), and Ed Skrein (Deadpool).
