Scarlett Johansson replaces Bryce Dallas Howard in the Jurassic World 4 trailer.
Jurassic World 4 (2025) is officially in production. Directed by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), it will be the seventh entry in the long-running Jurassic Park franchise that started with Steven Spielberg’s 1993 sci-fi blockbuster.
The project reunites several creatives from previous installments: Jurassic Park (1993) and The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997) screenwriter David Koepp; Jurassic World trilogy producers Patrick Cowley and Frank Marshall; and executive producer Steven Spielberg.
In true Jurassic fashion, it’s also shaping up to have a stellar cast. While only four actors have been confirmed so far (there are several other names being floated around, from Baby Reindeer‘s Richard Gadd to Saw‘s Tobin Bell), you’ll be very familiar with one of them.
Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton, Wicked), Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (The Lincoln Lawyer), Rupert Friend (The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, Obi-Wan Kenobi), and Scarlett Johansson (the Marvel Cinematic Universe) will be leading the movie into “an all-new Jurassic era.”
Having a name like Johansson attached to the film is somewhat unusual, though. While you might instantly think of her fellow Marvel alum Chris Pratt, whose Owen Grady led the Jurassic World trilogy alongside Bryce Dallas Howard’s Claire Dearing, the Guardians of the Galaxy star was nowhere near “ScarJo”-level of fame when the first film came out in 2015.
He might have already appeared as Peter Quill AKA Star-Lord the year before in the MCU’s James Gunn-directed comedy space opera, but it was Jurassic World (2015) that catapulted him into stardom. Sure, he was a household name by the time Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018) and Jurassic World Dominion (2022) were released, but Scarlett Johansson is walking into the Jurassic universe as a long-established Hollywood megastar.
Not only has she already appeared in several MCU movies (Iron Man 2, all four Avengers installments, Black Widow), she has also starred in blockbusters such as The Island (2005), Lucy (2014), and Ghost in the Shell (2017), to name a few.

According to an unverified report from a French media news website, the Avengers: Endgame (2019) star will play someone named Zora Valankova, however, no other details about her character are given (on the other hand, she may be playing an existing character).
And though it will likely be some time before we get any solid information about her character, now, we can at least see what it will be like to watch the Avengers’ Black Widow go up against genetically engineered theme park dinosaurs in the upcoming film.
A brand-new fan-made trailer titled “Jurassic World 4: Extinction” (which is not the official title for the new film) imagines Scarlett Johansson trying to survive in a world teeming with dinosaurs. It comes directly from KH Studios, the usual suspects behind fake trailers:
With some half-baked AI-created Scarlett Johansson and Chris Pratt narration, the trailer uses footage from all three Jurassic World movies (as well as the Jurassic World Dominion prologue), the Chris Pratt-starring Prime Video sci-fi actioner The Tomorrow War (2021), and Adam Driver’s dino-flick 65 (2023). It would almost have you fooled if not for Johansson’s Deepfake face blatantly being superimposed over Bryce Dallas Howard’s Claire Dearing.
Still, the music is hair-raising, and hearing the Marvel actress (well, an AI version of her) talk about dinosaurs (instead of the usual extra-terrestrial enemies) is enough to send shivers down anyone’s spine.
As for seeing any actors from the previous Jurassic Park films reprise their roles, such as Chris Pratt (Owen Grady), Bryce Dallas Howard (Claire Dearing), Sam Neill (Alan Grant), Laura Dern (Ellie Sattler), Jeff Goldblum (Ian Malcolm), BD Wong (Henry Wu), Isabella Sermon (Maisie Lockwood), and DeWanda Wise (Kayla Watts), none are expected to return.
However, Chris Pratt recently hinted to CBR.com that he may return for a cameo alongside fellow Marvel star Scarlett Johansson.
