Next Official ‘Jurassic Park’ Sequel Brings Back Several 1993 Characters
“Jurassic Park: Survival” has been touted as a “never-before-told story” set the day after the 1993 film. Players will step into the shoes of Dr. Maya Joshi, an InGen scientist stranded on Isla Nublar, and navigate a fully realized island where raptors, T-Rex, and tropical storms have left chaos in their wake.
From the kitchen where Lex and Tim hid to unexplored jungle facilities, the game promises a nostalgic yet terrifying re-creation of Spielberg’s masterpiece. But beyond dinosaurs and locations, what about the characters who didn’t make it out alive?
Mr. Arnold (Samuel L. Jackson), Robert Muldoon (Bob Peck), Dennis Nedry (Wayne Knight), and Donald Gennaro (Martin Ferrero) all met on-screen deaths that left little ambiguity. However, one figure stands out: Mr. Arnold, the chain-smoking engineer played by Samuel L. Jackson.
We only see the aftermath of his death — Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern) stumbles upon his severed arm in the maintenance shed — but the film never actually shows him die. Could “Jurassic Park: Survival” be the place where his fate is clarified?
It wouldn’t be the first time a presumed-dead character resurfaced in pop culture storytelling. If Arnold survived his raptor encounter, even briefly, it could create harrowing gameplay opportunities. Imagine stumbling upon him wounded in a hidden facility, offering guidance or critical knowledge about Isla Nublar’s systems before finally succumbing to death.
Alternatively, developers could weave in audio logs or journals from Arnold.

This kind of ambiguity could enrich the game’s world-building, while also developing the film’s mythos. While most players already expect to uncover grisly remains of the fallen, revealing the truth behind Arnold’s final moments would add weight to an already rich story.
If there’s even a slim chance Arnold lived well beyond the events of the film, “Jurassic Park: Survival” is the perfect place to explore that possibility.
A new behind-the-scenes video showcasing the game was recently unveiled:
“Return to Isla Nublar the day after the events of the beloved 1993 Jurassic Park film in an original adventure 65 million years in the making,” the synopsis for the game reads.
There’s no release date for “Jurassic Park: Survival”.
