Marvel Star Sentenced For Brutal Assault, Avoids Jail Time
In late March 2023, Loki star, actor Jonathan Majors, was arrested in New York City on very serious assault charges. Majors was arrested for allegedly assaulting his then-girlfriend, thirty-year-old Grace Jabbari, during a “domestic dispute.” New York City police arrested Majors and charged him with assault, harassment, and strangulation. Upon Majors’ arrest, police noted that Jabbari had several injuries, including on her head and neck. She was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Throughout the entire ordeal, Majors maintained his innocence and his lawyer, Priya Chaudhry, said that there was plenty of evidence proving his innocence. She also tried to get the charges against him dismissed, but that attempt failed. In December 2018, Majors went on trial and was found guilty of two counts of harassment and assault. He was found not guilty of two other charges.
Majors was supposed to be sentenced in February, but that was pushed back to April. It is now April, and the time has come for Mr. Majors to face the consequences of his actions.

On the morning of April 8, while many Americans were gearing up to watch the total solar eclipse, Majors was back in a New York City courtroom. Much to the actor’s relief, he was able to avoid jail time — of which he could have been sentenced to up to a year behind bars.
Instead, Majors was sentenced to one year of domestic violence counseling. He was also permanently barred from contacting his former girlfriend.

The actor must complete a 52-week, in-person domestic violence programming in Los Angeles, where he currently resides. There will be an opportunity in the future for the sessions to be partly virtual. He must continue the mental health therapy he has been enrolled in and provide updates on his progress. The judge also placed a permanent order of protection against any contact between Jabbari and Majors. Any violations or criminal activity could result in him facing jail time.
Despite the guilty verdict, Majors has never admitted that he has done anything wrong. During an interview with ABC News, Majors said that he was “absolutely shocked” when the guilty verdict was delivered. He said that he did not know how the police were able to photograph injuries that Ms. Jabbari sustained the night he was arrested.
Majors also claimed that he was assaulted by Jabbari on that night. He said that he remembered trying to grab a phone from her, and she slapped him.
During the sentencing, Ms. Jabbari was able to read a victim impact statement. During her statement, she pointed out that Majors has never admitted to assaulting her and has never apologized for what he did. She also said that he has not apologized because he is “not sorry” for what he did. The model also said that, because he has not accepted responsibility for his actions, he will assault another woman.
Jabbari said:
“He will do this again. He will hurt another woman. This is a man who believes he’s above the law. I had a career and life and body, all of which he’s damaged.”
“I will not rest until he’s not a danger. He refuses to acknowledge guilt and take responsibility. He remains a danger to all those around him. I’ve seen his anger and he doesn’t have control over it.”
One way that Jabbari is working to hold Majors responsible is by suing him for what he did to her. On March 19, Ms. Jabbari filed a massive lawsuit against Majors, accusing the actor of a “pervasive pattern of domestic abuse that began in 2021.” She alleges that the abuse became more severe when the two moved to London together in 2022.
Ms. Jabbari is also suing Majors for malicious prosecution. After Mr. Majors was arrested, he filed a complaint against Ms. Jabbari. He allegedly tried to convince prosecutors to have Ms. Jabbari arrested, even though he was told that there would be no charges filed against her.

Majors’ Massive Marvel Mess-Up
Jonathan Majors first began working with Marvel when he was revealed to be Kang the Conqueror at the end of season one of the hit series, Loki. He then reprised the role of Kang in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023). Marvel was setting Majors up to be its next “big bad” after Thanos. Majors was even set to get his own movie with the 2026 release of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
Unfortunately, when Majors was arrested, Marvel was forced to completely change its plans. The studio dropped Majors and had to completely rethink its upcoming slate.
Multiple reports indicate that Marvel is not recasting the role of Kang and is changing its upcoming Avengers movie. Marvel has not revealed what The Kang Dynasty will be called.
