Johnny Depp expands his social media presence to include TikTok, amassing 7 million followers almost instantly

The internet is abuzz today as Johnny Depp finally has an official TikTok account.

Before now, the Pirates of the Caribbean actor had yet to join the TikTok social media platform officially, but this week, an account has popped up on the platform, and a source close to Johnny Depp confirmed that the account is official but declined to comment further, according to PEOPLE.

As of Tuesday morning, the account had drawn more than 3.7 million followers, and on Tuesday evening, nearly 7 million people had followed Captain Jack Sparrow on his official Johnny Depp TikTok account (@JohnnyDepp).

The TikTok account bio reads only, “Occasional Thespian,” and a black and white photo of Depp adorns the top left corner of the page.

In a message to fans, Depp shared his love and thanks for their unending support of him throughout his career and especially during the most recent part of his life’s journey, which involved his recent defamation case against his ex-wife Amber Heard that resulted in a six-weeks-long trial chock full of accusations of domestic abuse, violence, and defamation following an op-ed Heard penned and published in The Washington Post in December 2018:

“To all of my most treasured, loyal, and unwavering supporters. We’ve been everywhere together, we have seen everything together. We have walked the same road together. We did the right thing together, all because you cared. And now, we will all move forward together. You are, as always, my employers, and once again, I am whittled down to no way to say thank you other than just by saying thank you. So, thank you. My love & respect, JD.”

Depp has an active online presence elsewhere on the internet with profiles on Facebook and Instagram, where he shared with fans his reaction to the June 1 verdict from his defamation trial against his ex-wife, Aquaman actress Amber Heard.

Throughout Depp’s defamation trial, each and every scroll through social media yielded dozens of videos, memes, and other content from what many called “the trial of the century.”

At the time of publication of this post, there is but one video posted on Johnny Depp‘s official TikTok account, but it’s a powerful one in which Depp expresses his love and appreciation for his fans.

Johnny Depp‘s defamation trial ended with a verdict in his favor and total damages awarded to him of $15 million. In a statement he released shortly after the jury read aloud its verdict, Depp said the decision gave him back his life, that “the best is yet to come, and a new chapter has finally begun.”
