‘James Bond’ Reboot Reportedly Eyes Gen Z Actor for 007
The search for the next James Bond might be focusing on a much younger 007 than in previous films. According to a recent Variety report, industry rumors suggest the studio and producers want a British actor under the age of 30 for the upcoming movie reboot.
Among the names said to be on their radar are Jacob Elordi (Saltburn), Tom Holland (Spider-Man: No Way Home), and Harris Dickinson (Babygirl).
The rumored casting direction has left us wondering if Amazon MGM is drawing inspiration from James Bond Jr., the overlooked 1991 animated series that followed Bond’s teenage nephew as he fought global villains while attending prep school.
While the reboot likely has nothing to do with the ’90s cartoon, focusing on a younger lead could be a way to create distance from past interpretations—especially the Daniel Craig era, which spanned five films from 2006’s Casino Royale to 2021’s No Time to Die.
While the new Bond remains unconfirmed, a young actor has already been cast as the character in another storytelling medium.
Patrick Gibson, who plays a young Dexter Morgan in the Paramount+ series Dexter: Original Sin (2024), has been revealed as Bond in the upcoming third-person video game “007 First Light”, which is set for release sometime next year.

The new Bond film will be directed by Denis Villeneuve (Blade Runner 2049, Dune), with a script from Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders).
If the casting rumors prove accurate, it would mark the youngest actor to play 007 in the series’ 60-year history.
That said, one-time Bond actor George Lazenby was 29 when he filmed On Her Majesty’s Secret Service (1969), making him the youngest Bond in film to date.
No release date has been confirmed, but Variety reports Amazon MGM is targeting 2028.
