‘James Bond’ Movie Reboot Will Take Place in Daniel Craig Timeline, New Report Suggests
James Bond has cheated death more times than anyone can count — except in No Time to Die. The 2021 film didn’t just hint at 007’s demise; it obliterated him. But according to a new report from Radar Online, that decision is proving to be a major obstacle for Amazon MGM, the studio now responsible for carrying the secret agent’s legacy forward.

A source close to production claims that writers are “stuck trying to find a believable way to resurrect him,” noting that killing Bond outright may have been “a massive mistake because Bond is supposed to be eternal.”
The comment echoes what many fans felt when Daniel Craig’s fifth and final outing ended with Britain’s top spy consumed in an explosion, bringing his 15-year run to a definitive close.
What complicates matters is that the next Bond movie, helmed by Blade Runner 2049 and Dune director Denis Villeneuve with a script from Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, has been described as a complete reboot. A new Bond, a new timeline — business as usual for a franchise that has reinvented itself repeatedly over six decades.
Yet the very existence of these internal struggles suggests the creative team hasn’t fully decided how separate the new film should be. If the rumors are true, of course.

The Bond timeline has never been simple, though. Actors like Connery, Lazenby, Moore, Brosnan, and Craig each introduced their own interpretations, but the films have always flirted with continuity through recurring characters like M and Q, often portrayed by the same performers across eras. That elasticity has been both a strength and a curse.
If the Amazon report is accurate, the studio now faces a uniquely modern problem: how to move forward after one of the most bold character deaths in film history.
For now, Bond remains both dead and alive — a contradiction perfectly fitting for the world’s most enduring secret agent.
