It’s Official: Disney’s Next Theme Park Opens This Year

The wait is almost over! Disneyland Paris Resort has confirmed that March 29, 2026, is the official opening date for Disney Adventure World, marking the complete transformation of what’s currently known as Walt Disney Studios Park. The reimagined European Disney destination promises to deliver double the space and several entirely new experiences.

Farewell to Walt Disney Studios Park

Walt Disney Studios Park opened in 2002 as Disneyland Paris Resort’s second gate, focusing on movie-making and behind-the-scenes Hollywood magic. That concept will disappear when Disney Adventure World takes over. The new Disney park shifts focus to immersive storytelling, dropping guests directly into beloved Disney and Pixar cinematic worlds.

The scope of change is staggering. More than 90% of attractions and experiences that existed when Walt Disney Studios Park first opened will be transformed or eliminated entirely by the time Disney Adventure World debuts. The park’s physical size will also double, creating room for expansive new lands.

The redesigned theme park entrance, World Premiere Plaza, has already welcomed guests. The space takes inspiration from legendary live theatre districts, particularly Broadway and London’s West End.

Central Hub Packed With New Experiences

Adventure Way serves as the main corridor of Disney Adventure World, connecting various lands while offering its own attractions. Fourteen new dining venues line the pathway, each themed to different Disney and Pixar stories.

Regal View Restaurant & Lounge is a standout dining destination, offering Disney Princess character meals at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The lounge portion breaks new ground as the first bar ever built inside a Disneyland Paris Resort theme park. Decorations pay tribute to beloved animal sidekicks, including Heihei, Pascal, and Mushu. Guests dining at either location enjoy views of Adventure Bay.

Entertainment fills Adventure Way throughout the day. The Disney Marching Band, led by Minnie Mouse, performs multiple times daily. Multiple rotating Disney character meet-and-greets launch in November. Seasonal shows rotate through the year: Rapunzel and Flynn’s Musical Encounter in spring, Mary Poppins and the Pearly Band in summer, and Miguel’s Latin Festival in fall.

Revolutionary Nighttime Show

“Disney Cascade of Lights” premieres March 29. Disneyland Paris Resort’s newest nighttime spectacular, staged on Adventure Bay, combines fireworks, drone technology, and water projection in a 360-degree presentation surrounding the bay.

Disney claims the show will feature “the world’s first integration of an aquatic drone system alongside next-generation aerial drones,” suggesting technology that has never been seen in theme park entertainment.

The soundtrack mixes reimagined classic Disney songs with “We Can Be Heroes,” an original composition created for the show. Scenes and characters from Zootopia (2016), Up (2009), Hercules (1997), Moana (2016), Mulan (1998), and various Marvel Cinematic Universe films appear throughout the entertainment offering.

Paris-Exclusive Tangled (2010) Ride

Raiponce Tangled Spin joins Disney Adventure World’s attraction lineup on opening day. The family spinner ride recreates the floating lantern sequence from Tangled (2010) and exists nowhere else in the world except Disneyland Paris Resort. Mandy Moore, the original voice actress for Rapunzel, recorded brand-new audio exclusively for this attraction.

Frozen (2013) Takes Over 7.5 Acres

The World of Frozen dramatically increases Disney Adventure World’s total acreage, spanning 7.5 acres of previously undeveloped land. The immersive environment recreates the Kingdom of Arendelle at full scale, including the 118-foot-tall North Mountain and Elsa’s Ice Palace, both of which are visible throughout the park.

Multiple attractions populate the Frozen (2013)-themed area. An upgraded version of Frozen Ever After—which currently operates at EPCOT and Hong Kong Disneyland—anchors the land, and Wandering Oaken’s Sliding Sleighs offers a family-friendly roller coaster experience.

A 15-minute daytime show, “A Celebration in Arendelle,” features Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, and Olaf celebrating Snowflower Day. The show unfolds aboard three Viking longships floating on Arendelle Bay. Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, who composed the original Frozen soundtrack, wrote two new songs specifically for this Disneyland Paris Resort production.

Last year, Walt Disney Imagineers unveiled footage of a groundbreaking walk-around Olaf audio-animatronic that will debut exclusively at Disneyland Paris Resort and Hong Kong Disneyland.

Construction Continues Beyond Opening Day

Disney Adventure World’s development extends far beyond the March 29 grand opening. Construction teams began work in 2025 on a land inspired by The Lion King (1994). Plans call for a log flume attraction featuring cutting-edge audio-animatronics, a life-sized Pride Rock structure, and additional experiences drawn from the Walt Disney Animation Studios classic.

A flying carousel themed to Up (2009) is under development for Adventure Way. However, Disneyland Paris Resort hasn’t set an opening timeline for the Pixar attraction.

Pandora – The World of Avatar

Public documents indicate Disneyland Paris Resort may be exploring an Avatar (2009)-themed land for Disney Adventure World. The addition would mirror Pandora – The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park and the Avatar expansion currently in development at Disney California Adventure Park. However, Disneyland Paris Resort hasn’t officially acknowledged Avatar plans.
