It’s “Against the American Way” To Say “No” to Immigrants, Says Hollywood Star
The Superman star spoke out on the red carpet.
As DC Studios charts a bold new direction for its cinematic universe, James Gunn’s Superman (2025) is already at the center of a cultural conversation—one that blends superhero storytelling with contemporary political discourse.
Hitting theaters on July 11, 2025, Superman marks the formal beginning of the revamped DC Universe, now operating under the title “Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.” The film isn’t just a solo outing for Clark Kent—it’s the foundation stone for a multi-title strategy driven by narrative cohesion and emotional stakes.
Co-CEO James Gunn, now overseeing DC Studios with Peter Safran, promises a tonal shift: this Superman will carry hope, heart, and moral clarity rather than echoing the heavy, grayscale ethos of the Snyder era.
David Corenswet steps into the role of Superman already three years into his superhero journey. He’s joined by Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, who famously learned she landed the part while in a public restroom, and Nicholas Hoult as a tech-savvy iteration of Lex Luthor. The cast also introduces deep-cut DC characters like Mister Terrific, Hawkgirl, Metamorpho, Green Lantern, and even Krypto the Superdog—underscoring just how interconnected Gunn’s new universe will be.
While Creature Commandos (released December 2024) technically kicked things off, Superman is positioned as the DCU’s first major cinematic pillar. From there, a wave of upcoming projects will expand the narrative: Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow (June 26, 2026), the investigative-themed Lanterns, Clayface (September 2026), The Brave and the Bold, and The Authority—each with their own tone but linked to Superman’s ethos.
Gunn’s creative plan also includes global expansion, with future titles set to draw from Korean, Brazilian, and Japanese stories, reflecting a worldwide reach grounded in character-driven storytelling.
Early buzz from industry insiders describes Superman as visually breathtaking and emotionally charged, with some calling it one of the most heartfelt superhero efforts in years.
But not everyone is cheering.
In a recent interview with The Times, Gunn described Superman as a symbol of America. “An immigrant that came from other places and populated the country,” he explained. “But for me it is mostly a story that says basic human kindness is a value and is something we have lost.”
Those remarks triggered criticism from Fox News, where Kellyanne Conway dismissed the film as “Superwoke,” saying, “We don’t go to the movie theater to be lectured to and to have somebody throw their ideology onto us.” Jesse Watters added, “You know what it says on his cape? MS13.”
These reactions arrive in a fraught political moment. Following Donald Trump’s 2024 return to the presidency, immigration discourse has flared, with reports of increased ICE activity, protests, and new detention facilities such as the polarizing “Alligator Alcatraz.”
Gunn stood by his approach. “Yes, it’s about politics. But on another level it’s about morality,” he said. “Do you never kill no matter what—which is what Superman believes—or do you have some balance, as Lois believes?”
On the red carpet, Sean Gunn, who plays Maxwell Lord in the DC movie, offered a sharper perspective during the film’s premiere. Speaking to Variety, he stated: “My reaction to that is that it is exactly what the movie is about. We support our people, you know? We love our immigrants. Yes, Superman is an immigrant, and yes, the people that we support in this country are immigrants and if you don’t like that, you’re not American. People who say no to immigrants are against the American way.”

Yet another example of Hollywood DICTATING to people how they should think. Who do these people think they are, some who act, ( mostly at a mediocre level ), the writers, whose sole reason for existing seems to be to to ” re educate the idiot populace, and Directors, people so far up themselves that they follow whatever is the ” latest way of thinking ” and use film to become modern day Goebbels. We have actors who tell us we MUST support the latest sexual deviancy. Mostly because they are part of it, or have deviant family members who are. A woman who starred in the Mandalorion was fired and blacklisted for voicing an opinion, yet the Mandalorian DEMANDS we accept the perversion of ” Trans ” because HIS brother thinks he’s his sister. Hollywood is full to the brim with sexual deviants, or those who claim their poor kids are ” whatever is fashionable “. The worm will turn. Simple fact.
