Walt Disney World has stepped up the fun with its iconic Fab 50 statues, making interactions even smoother for guests. These beloved golden sculptures, scattered throughout the parks, now come with new instructional signs that guide visitors on how to interact with them using a MagicBand+. The signs replace the previous advice to simply wave at the statues, introducing a more intuitive circular motion that ensures consistent and magical experiences.

The Fab 50 statues debuted during Disney World’s 50th anniversary celebration, representing classic characters like Mickey Mouse, Olaf, and Simba. They quickly became a guest favorite, not just for their beauty but also for the interactive sound effects and animations they offered. When the anniversary celebration ended, Disney announced the statues would remain, but the commemorative “50” medallions were removed.

The updated signs, now placed beside the statues, include a simple graphic showing guests how to make a circular motion with their MagicBand+. There’s even a QR code on the sign that links to the Fab 50 Quest in the My Disney Experience app. This added touch allows guests to turn their visit into an interactive adventure as they discover new surprises tied to each statue.

MagicBand+ is a game-changer at Disney World, elevating the traditional wristband experience. Not only does it interact with the Fab 50 statues, but it also enhances nighttime spectaculars like Happily Ever After and EPCOT’s Luminous: The Symphony of Us. The bands light up and vibrate in sync with the shows, making guests feel like they’re part of the action. Of course, MagicBand+ still handles all the essentials like park entry, Lightning Lane access, and linking PhotoPass pictures.

Some of the most popular statues can be found in Magic Kingdom near Cinderella Castle, including Mickey, Minnie, and Dumbo. EPCOT boasts Figment, while Disney’s Hollywood Studios features Olaf and Bruni. Over in Animal Kingdom, Simba, Timon, and Pumbaa remind guests of the park’s focus on nature and conservation.

Disney’s decision to keep these statues and improve their accessibility through the MagicBand+ is a testament to their dedication to creating magical experiences. Whether you’re activating Simba’s roar or hearing Olaf’s cheerful giggles, these moments bring the parks to life in new and creative ways.

Have you had a chance to use MagicBand+ with the Fab 50 statues? These interactive additions are a perfect blend of nostalgia and modern tech, making your Disney memories even more enchanting.

  1. What difference does it make if Disney is upgrading experiences and making the parks more magical, if the average person can’t afford to go without selling a kidney or a child to pay for it.

  2. We just visited WDW and loved the interactive statues. I thought I’d missed my chance to see the golden statues since I couldn’t make it for the 50th celebration. It sure made my heart happy!
