Disney Shuts Down Original Collaboration With George Lucas
A Disneyland Resort guest recently shared a video of their experience on Indiana Jones Adventure after the attraction abruptly shut down, forcing Disney cast members to evacuate everyone on board.
Indiana Jones Adventure opened in Adventureland at Disneyland Park in 1995, following the success of Walt Disney World Resort’s Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular!. At the time, The Walt Disney Company had yet to acquire Lucasfilm, making the attraction one of many early collaborations between the Disney parks and George Lucas. The unique ride system has only ever been used on one other Disney Park attraction, DINOSAUR, which will soon receive a unique Indiana Jones reskin as part of the Pueblo Esperanza expansion at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park.
In 2023, Disneyland Resort closed Indiana Jones Adventure for three months for a lengthy refurbishment. During the shutdown, several long-broken special effects were repaired. However, like most Disney Park attractions, the Adventureland ride still experiences technical issues even after the recent maintenance.
Last week, TikTok user @pixiepr1ncessbritt shared this video of their group getting stuck on and subsequently evacuating Indiana Jones Adventure:
@pixiepr1ncessbritt WELP THIS WAS AN EXPERIENCE 😆 The nerd in me secretly enjoys seeing the behind the scenes on the rides! #indianajones #disneyland #disneylandparks #disneyparks #disneylandcalifornia #disney #disneylandresort #disneyfyp #disneylandrides #ridepov #indianajonesbreaksdown #fypdisney @Disney Parks @Disney
The TikToker and her friends waited 30 minutes to ride Indiana Jones Adventure after missing the attraction during their last Disneyland Park visit because of a “temporary closure.” They finally made it on board…only for the ride to shut down halfway through.
After guests sat on the ride for a while, Disney cast members turned on the overhead lights and helped guests out of their ride vehicles. Everyone appears to have evacuated safely.
“This is super weird,” the TikToker said. “It’s silent and the lights are on.”
Despite the unfortunate interruption, the guest spun the experience into a positive: “The nerd in me secretly enjoys seeing the behind the scenes on the rides!”
Disneyland Resort rarely publicizes information about minor attraction issues, and this incident was no different. Indiana Jones Adventure eventually reopened and was operating normally at the time of this article’s publication.
