In Four Days, Paid Lightning Lane at Disney World Will Change Forever

Guests visiting Walt Disney World Resort this week are about to see a new shift in Lightning Lane access, and it’s arriving sooner than you might expect. In just four days, the system that helps guests skip standby lines will expand to include one of the newest live shows at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Back in May, The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure premiered at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The updated show reimagined the long-running Voyage of the Little Mermaid, bringing enhanced puppetry, dazzling special effects, and live performances that whisk audiences into Ariel’s world “Under the Sea.”

Since its debut, the show has been exclusively standby-only. Even with performances running roughly every 40 minutes, Disney Park guests sometimes waited half an hour for seats—and not always the ones they hoped for. That all changes on September 11, when The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure officially joins the Lightning Lane Multi Pass lineup.

The show will be added as a Tier 2 Lightning Lane Multi Pass option. Guests who purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass for Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be able to reserve this show in advance, along with another Tier 2 attraction. The others include Alien Swirling Saucers, Beauty and the Beast — Live on Stage, For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration, Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, Star Tours, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, and Toy Story Mania!.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ Tier 1 list includes Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, Rock’ n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, and Slinky Dog Dash. Guests can only reserve one of those in advance per day.

Not everything at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is included in Lightning Lane Multi Pass. Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is only available as a separate Lightning Lane Single Pass purchase. Access to Fantasmic! priority seating is usually tied to dining packages.

Is Lightning Lane Multi Pass worth the cost at Disney’s Hollywood Studios? Disney Dining would love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
