Universal Shutting Down ‘Harry Potter’ Attraction Permanently

A popular Wizarding World of Harry Potter attraction is shutting down at Universal Orlando.

While Universal already has several theme parks and a water park, they are in the process of building a third theme park called  Epic Universe, which will open in 2025. Universal is also in talks about opening a third theme park in the United States which would be located in Texas. With all this change happening and coming to Universal, they are known for updating, removing, and adding new attractions.

A new Minions-themed attraction will soon be opening in the summer of 2023, so several attractions have been getting a facelift over at Universal Studios Florida. Next door, at Universal Islands of Adventure, changes have been happening, such as Jurassic World VeleicoCoaster changing their safety features. In May, several changes will occur at Universal’s Islands of Adventure, including the permanent closure of Poseidon’s Fury and a beloved Wizarding World of Harry Potter attraction.

The Nighttime Lights at Hogwarts is an experience of a dazzling spectacle of music and lights. On select nights, watch in awe from Hogsmeade™ village as projections are cast against the majestic backdrop of the castle. Embrace your Hogwarts™ pride as the four houses are celebrated in stunning light and sound. It’s a beautiful way to end your day at Universal’s Islands of Adventure.

Luckily, there are plans to bring future enhancements to the show, but it is unclear if it will keep the same name or if it will be an entirely different attraction when it reopens.
