‘Harry Potter’ Star Loses Gig After Joining OnlyFans
For more than a decade, Jessie Cave has been tied to the wizarding world. Her portrayal of Lavender Brown — Ron Weasley’s brief but memorable love interest — made her a familiar face among Harry Potter fans, sparking invitations to conventions and panel appearances.
Now, six months into a surprising creative venture, Cave says that connection has shifted in ways she never anticipated.
The actress, writer, and mother of four joined OnlyFans in March 2025, framing it as a playful experiment rather than a reinvention. She posts hair-focused videos on the subscription platform, combining storytelling with lighthearted sensuality. “No spells, no nudity,” Cave explained, stressing her content revolves around hair and self-expression. Yet even that distinction hasn’t stopped repercussions from rippling back into her career.
OnlyFans has often been defined in the public eye by its adult entertainment economy, despite attracting chefs, comedians, fitness trainers, and musicians. For Cave, that reputation has proven difficult to separate from her identity as a Harry Potter alum. The result, she says, is a complicated tug-of-war between her independence as a creator and the fandom expectations that still hover around her.
Lost Opportunities and Shifting Priorities
In a Substack essay published September 17 and wryly titled Only Wingardium Nakediosa, Cave shared that she recently missed out on a Harry Potter convention. “I found out that I didn’t get booked for a Harry Potter convention recently, as I’m now doing OnlyFans,” she wrote. “They explained it was because it’s a ‘family show and OnlyFans is affiliated with porn.’ This was baffling to me… I’m just playing with my hair!”
Cave has never shied away from speaking candidly about her life, whether on stage, in interviews, or through her essays. She first joined the franchise with 2009’s Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, where Lavender Brown’s romance with Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) caused memorable tension with Hermione Granger (Emma Watson). She returned for the franchise’s finale, Deathly Hallows – Part 2, and has since remained a familiar presence at fan gatherings.
Now, with Warner Bros. preparing a Harry Potter reboot for HBO, Cave says she feels less concerned about missing out on future events. “There’s going to be a new cast now and it’s a different time,” she explained, noting she has spent over 15 years attending conventions. “I have enough photos and wizard memorabilia,” she added, suggesting the chapter may be closing on its own.
Balancing Family, Creativity, and Self-Image
Cave also used her essay to discuss the personal side of content creation. She admitted the experience has been both rewarding and unexpectedly draining. “Self-worth has become entwined with my statistics,” she reflected, describing the competitive pressures of maintaining an audience. The emotional toll, she said, has sometimes collided with her home life in ways both awkward and comedic.
One anecdote involved her daughter stumbling across opera gloves that Cave had purchased for videos. “I told her I wore them one Halloween and hid them away quickly,” she wrote. Cave laughed off the moment, joking that her subscribers enjoy when she plaits her hair while wearing them.

Still, the actress is clear about the benefits of her venture. She has spoken about using the income to support her family and fund home projects with her partner, comedian Alfie Brown. For now, she appears committed to her corner of OnlyFans, embracing the freedom it gives her to experiment on her own terms — even as it complicates her place in a franchise that shaped her career.
PEOPLE reported that it reached out to Cave for clarification about the convention booking but received no response. Her focus, however, seems firmly set on the present. As she put it, OnlyFans remains “an experiment in independence” — one that continues to reshape how she views her work, her fandom, and herself.
