Guest Claims ‘Severe Eye Injury’ From Disney Fireworks, Report Says
Fireworks at Magic Kingdom are usually one of those moments guests talk about for years. Watching Cinderella Castle glow, hearing the music swell, and seeing those bursts of color explode across the night sky can feel emotional and unforgettable in all the best ways. For many families, it’s the grand finale to a perfect Disney day.
However, one guest now says his night took a very different turn, and he has taken Disney to court over it.

A Lawsuit Stemming From Happily Ever After
According to a recent legal report, a North Carolina man alleges that he suffered a serious eye injury while watching the Happily Ever After fireworks at Magic Kingdom back on November 24, 2023. He claims that falling debris — described in the filing as “smoldering” material — hit him in the eye during the show.
The guest reportedly filed the lawsuit nearly two years after the visit, stating he experienced significant damage and accusing Disney of failing to properly account for wind and safety factors during the fireworks display.
The suit claims Disney should have taken additional precautions and that the pyrotechnic nature of the show made it a dangerous activity that required heightened safety measures.
Disney Hasn’t Responded Yet
At this time, Disney has not publicly responded to the lawsuit. The guest’s attorney also reportedly did not provide additional details about the exact nature of the injuries or where in the park the man was standing when the incident allegedly occurred.
Fireworks incidents at Disney are rare, especially considering how often these shows run and how many guests view them each night. Still, the lawsuit raises questions about how theme parks prepare for weather, wind, and the possibility of airborne debris.

Another Fireworks Case Not Long Ago
Interestingly, this isn’t the first fireworks-related lawsuit tied to Disney World in recent years. A previous case involved a young guest who was reportedly struck by debris during a show near Cinderella Castle in early 2023. This new incident adds to the conversation about pyrotechnic safety in crowded theme park environments.
Fireworks are a core part of the Disney experience, and most nights go off without a hitch — creating emotional memories instead of courtroom battles. Still, this lawsuit serves as a reminder that even in the World’s Most Magical Place, unexpected situations can occur.
The case will now move through the court system, and it may be some time before a resolution is reached. We’ll continue watching for updates as more information becomes available.
