Former Disney CEO Bob Chapek has landed in the middle of a headline-making dispute with Apple.
Following his removal as CEO by the Board of Directors for The Walt Disney Company in November 2022, Bob Chapek’s post-Disney whereabouts have been a bit of a mystery.
But on Tuesday evening, Chapek again made headlines with his appointment to the Board of Directors for the medical technology firm Masimo.
The medical tech company has been in the headlines of late, as the company is currently in a patent dispute with the Apple Corporation over the use of a smartwatch tool that measure blood oxygen saturation levels.

“I am thrilled to join the Masimo Board,” Chapek said. “I look forward to helping advance the company’s growth by leveraging their core technologies in the consumer and consumer health spaces.”
Joe Kiani, CEO of Masimo and Chairman of the Board, said that the company is “honored to have Bob join the board.”
He continued saying, “As we execute our hospital-to-home strategy, we expect to benefit greatly from Bob’s role on our board.”
Bob Chapek began his term as Disney’s CEO in February 2020, just before Disney Parks around the world announced their closures in response to the growing global coronavirus pandemic. He was removed on November 20, 2022, in a surprise move by The Walt Disney Company’s board, which included the reinstatement of former CEO Bob Iger.
