The last remaining entrance to the Walt Disney World Railroad station on Main Street, U.S.A. has now closed, as the Central Florida Disney park continues its ongoing refurbishment of the historic steam train at Magic Kingdom Park.
The Walt Disney World Railroad’s Closure Timeline
The Walt Disney World Railroad shut down for refurbishment on September 28, with an original target reopening date of October 30. That timeline has since shifted, as Walt Disney World Resort’s website now states the historic attraction is “expected to reopen November 2026,” without providing a specific date.
Once it does return, the railroad will continue operating in shuttle mode between Storybook Circus in Fantasyland and Main Street, U.S.A., a limitation tied to ongoing development in both Piston Peak National Park in Frontierland and Disney Villains Land nearby. Frontierland Station itself is expected to remain closed until the larger Magic Kingdom Park expansion project is complete.
Main Street, U.S.A., Station Loses Its Last Entrance
Just two days after the railroad closed, the final open entrance to the Main Street, U.S.A. station also shut down. WDWNT shared a photo on September 30 showing the staircase now roped off, accompanied by a sign reading, “Sorry folks! The Walt Disney World Railroad is not currently operating.”
That staircase had previously given guests access to a collectible medallion machine located on the station’s second floor, along with elevated views overlooking Main Street, U.S.A. Similar rope barriers and signage now block every other entrance to the station as well.
Walt Disney World Resort hasn’t clarified whether this particular staircase, or any alternate entrance to the second floor, will reopen before the broader railroad refurbishment concludes.
