EPCOT Officially Kicks Children Out of Dining Spaces

Despite recent ticket discounts targeted toward families with children, Walt Disney World Resort seemingly hasn’t given up on its childless adult guests. This week, the Central Florida Disney park shared some more details about its upcoming adult-only dining location, a Spaceship Earth lounge at EPCOT.

Earlier this month, Walt Disney World Resort announced the name of the Spaceship Earth-themed lounge: GEO-82. It refers to the iconic geospheric architecture of the Spaceship Earth attraction and EPCOT’s opening date: October 1, 1982.

The upscale, adult-only lounge will offer “modern and innovative” cocktails and “globally influenced” small plates (possibly an homage to the EPCOT World Showcase). Despite previously describing the Spaceship Earth lounge as a “zen space for families to gather and enjoy refreshments,” GEO-82 will only welcome guests 21 and older.

On Wednesday, Walt Disney World Resort officials shared some new details about the GEO-82 lounge with WDWNTSome of the creatives behind the upcoming dining location stated that guests would enter the space through a tunnel. They also added that the menu is “bourbon-heavy.”

Advanced recommendations will be required for the GEO-82 Bar & Lounge. Walt Disney World Resort’s website states that “space is extremely limited.”

“Discover a sophisticated hideaway nestled within the iconic geodesic sphere at EPCOT that’s home to Spaceship Earth,” Walt Disney World Resort writes. “Here, you can experience global flavors blended with culinary artistry in classic cocktails and small plates. Check back later for menu details.”

Construction has begun on GEO-82, which is expected to welcome its first guests sometime before this summer. However, Walt Disney World Resort hasn’t announced an official opening date for the lounge. Magic Kingdom Park will also debut a family-friendly Pirates of the Caribbean-themed lounge in Adventureland later this year.
