Even from the very beginning, Disneyland Resort’s different theme park areas added so much to the quintessential âDisney Experience,â making them a necessary addition.

Magic Kingdom and Disneyland Park may have a lot in common, but some of the most important similarities are these very theme park areas:
- Main Street, U.S.A.
- Adventureland
- Frontierland
- Fantasyland
- Tomorrowland
Each of these themed areas can be found in both Disney Parks, where they neatly organize each theme so that each attraction, character, store, and eatery makes perfect sense in its area.
Disneyland Park and Magic Kingdom Have a Few Big Differences
Disneyland Park has a few additional theme park areas that Magic Kingdom doesn’t have, such as New Orleans Square, Critter Country, and Mickey’s Toontown.
However, as far as Disneyland Park goers are concerned, Magic Kingdom regulars may not be missing much, apparently, as Mickey’s Toontown has proven itself to beâŚtemperamental.

This theme park area is so hot and cold, and many guests feel that Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney Imagineering will never fix all of the issues plaguing this area.
To begin with, Mickey’s Toontown was closed for an entire year starting in March 2022. This closure ensured that Walt Disney Imagineering could update and refurbish the space, making the area more accessible and inclusive for all guests.
Although the Disneyland Park area reopened on time in March 2023, the construction wouldn’t end there.
The Closures Wouldn’t End ThereâŚ
The entirety of CenTOONial Park has been closed off and on for the past year, with construction walls going up once again last month.
Initially, the theme park area was meant to reopen on October 22. But the latest reports state that CenTOONial Park won’t reopen until the end of the month, on October 30, while the iconic fountain display won’t reopen until the beginning of next month on November 10.
NEW: CenTOONial Park in Mickeyâs Toontown is set to reopen on Oct. 30 following a refurbishment. The fountain is set to reopen on Nov. 10.
Goofyâs How-to-Play Yard is set to close on Oct. 30 for a short refurb and reopen on Nov. 10.

Not only that, but Goofy’s How-to-Play Yard will be closing on October 30 and is also scheduled to reopen on November 10, alongside the area’s iconic water fountain.
That being said, given how often the dates and refurbishments have proven unreliable, who really knows when these theme park areas will open up again?
