Dorothy Arrives and Elphaba Soars in “Wicked for Good” Trailer

The trailer for Wicked for Good, the second half of the Wicked (2024) movie adaptation, has landed, and it’s everything fans could have wished for—and then some. Picking up right where last year’s Wicked: Part One (2024) left off, the sequel dives headfirst into Act 2 of the Broadway hit. Expect more drama, more magic, and yes, a sneak peek at Dorothy Gale herself.

But let’s talk about the real showstoppers: the new songs. That’s right, Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) and Glinda (Ariana Grande) are getting brand-new numbers written just for the movie by Stephen Schwartz, the original composer of Wicked. And don’t worry—classics like “No Good Deed” and “I’m Not That Girl (Reprise)” will still hit all the emotional notes you’re expecting.

Director Jon M. Chu has promised a fresh take on the themes of friendship and identity that made Wicked a cultural touchstone, while making the most of the cinematic format. These new songs are more than just bonus tracks; they’re here to flesh out the characters in ways the stage version couldn’t.

Act 2’s High-Stakes Drama Comes Alive

Fans of the musical will know Act 2 is where things get real. The trailer hints at some major moments: Elphaba becoming increasingly isolated, Glinda’s rise to power, and the fallout from their choices. And yes, Dorothy finally makes her big entrance! We get a quick glimpse of her walking through the iconic yellow brick road, and she looks ready to bring a fresh spin to Kansas’ most famous export. How Dorothy’s arrival shakes up the dynamic between Elphaba and Glinda? That’s a secret Oz is keeping close to the vest.

Visually, the sequel looks even more stunning than the first. From jaw-dropping Emerald City landscapes to the eerie allure of Elphaba’s castle, the production design is serving up all the drama and flair fans could hope for. The trailer also teases some intense action sequences—and maybe even a flying monkey or two.

Could Wicked for Good Win Big?

Let’s not forget about award season. While Wicked: Part One (2024) crushed it at the box office and delighted fans, it had a mixed run during awards season. The film received Oscar nominations for Best Original Score, Best Visual Effects, Best Editing, Best Sound, and Best Makeup and Hairstyling. However, Wicked only took home two Oscars: Best Costume Design for Paul Tazewell and Best Production Design for Lee Sandeles and Nathan Crowley.

This time around, Wicked for Good could finally take the prize home. With its heavier emotional beats, intricate storytelling, and new original songs, it’s got the potential to be a serious contender. Could Elphaba’s new anthem take home Best Original Song? Will Ariana Grande’s portrayal of Glinda finally nab her a statue? Only time will tell.

One thing’s for sure: the Wicked phenomenon is far from over. From its Broadway debut in 2003 to this two-part cinematic epic, the story of Elphaba and Glinda continues to enchant. With Wicked for Good on the horizon, fans are ready to laugh, cry, and maybe belt out a few high notes along the way. Oz awaits—and it’s going to be magical.

Wicked for Good is set to hit theaters on November 21, 2025.
