Dolly Parton Says Goodbye to Dollywood, Effective This December

After nearly four decades of shaping the heart and soul of Dollywood, Dolly Parton is set to step away from the theme park she helped transform into a Tennessee landmark. The iconic country music legend has announced that she will temporarily leave Dollywood later this year to pursue a new adventure in Las Vegas.

Dolly Parton purchased Dollywood in 1986, taking over the former Rebel Railroad theme park in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. When she became successful, she promised to give back to her community, and she did just that by turning Dollywood into one of the largest employers in Tennessee. The park has been an integral part of her legacy, providing thousands of jobs and bringing joy to visitors from around the world.

Parton has spent nearly 40 years frequenting Dollywood, occasionally appearing in parades and greeting fans. This year, though, she will miss out on some of the park’s beloved holiday festivities. Instead, she’s shifting her focus to a new venture.

This week, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Dolly Parton will take over The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas for a six-show residency from December 4 to 13, 2025. This marks Dolly’s return to Las Vegas after over 30 years; her last major Vegas run was in the early ’90s when she performed nearly 50 shows at The Mirage.

“To say I’m excited would be an understatement. I haven’t worked Vegas in years and I’ve always loved singing there,” Parton shared in a statement. “I’m looking so forward to the shows in The Colosseum at Caesars and I hope you are as well. See you there.”

The residency, titled “Dolly: Live in Las Vegas,” will feature Parton performing some of her most beloved songs, including “9 to 5,” “Jolene,” “I Will Always Love You,” and “Coat of Many Colors.” It’s being billed as a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see one of the world’s most beloved entertainers at the peak of her success.”

Tickets for the limited-run engagement will go on sale Wednesday, June 25, at 10:00 a.m. PT. From Dolly Parton on X (formerly known as Twitter):

  1. I think it’s terrible when this is the 40th year of Dollywood. She could at least wait it another year, but then again, right? It was her life go forward.
